Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

Well, it has been a pleasure?

I knew I was on borrowed time for this company for a while and did not quite get out before things really went south. Who would have ever guessed a pandemic would strike this year bringing out some of the worst in humanity?

Anyways, since frequenting these boards I have tried to help where I could as only an anonymous source could and hopefully I helped someone out with advice or something at one point. With my time at the company coming to an end I like many of you will now continue to try to find jobs elsewhere that my or may not be comparable to what we had. I wish all of you the best of luck and may you not get into another company that gets run down the way leadership has on this one.

Thanks all for reading and farewell.

A small PS to management that I am SURE reads these boards....

One of the complaints we had was lack of communication ongoing for quite a while. Sending a "here is whats going on!" letter to the same people who are getting notice of being laid off at the same time... its incredibly bad looking for you. You could have easily waited a week for your mailing lists to be updated with everyone who you know, didn't get the axe Friday and not look even more tone deaf then what you did when you gave millions in bonuses to people like SN right after cutting peoples health benefits. Good luck to you in the future, and to anyone who hasn't been totally corrupted yet by this leadership... I recommend you update your resume because I am sure one day you will get your own letter. That is my only parting advice that I am sure you will roll your eyes at and disregard.

I survived the layoff but think it disgusting how they cut the severance package a couple days before the layoff and didn't brinf back some of the most dedicated employees. Rob McNicholas, the VP/Senior Leader of Operations, never communicated with any of his leadership subordinates during the furlough. He was too busy picking out which pair of tight pants he was going to wear to impress his homosexual friends and engaging in sodomy outside of work to care about the supervisors and assistant supervisors who run the park. None of us can stand him and are just waiting for the economy to recover before we jump ships ourselves. Wish Merlin or Universal would buy the parks.

Actually I do not think it was a mistake on their part to send both letters. I bet they sent the "here is what is going on" letter so that those being let go would know they were changing the severance policy. If that is proper or not is a completely different situation, but this way the awesome leadership could say "we communicated those severance changes to you before the lay off"

@FrustratedWhale - So sorry that happened to you (and everyone else of course). You always seemed to be the voice of reason on these boards.
Please know that you will move on to bigger and better things. Luckily I did before this even started and couldn’t be happier.
Best of luck!!

I am so sorry. I was laid off a few years ago after 20+years. It's heartbreaking but then you realize how valuable you are to other organizations. Always remember you were part of the best of the best. Be well, friend.
