Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

New timekeeping system.

A new babysitting service? Another way to micromanage? It will probably keep us chained to our desks. Have to account for every second now! Please just lay me off and be done with it! I do t want to work for a company like this!

Maybe now I’ll be paid for all the overtime I have worked that I’m not paid for and told I need to work because it’s really not a 40 hour per week job but we can’t make you salary at this time but keep up the good work 🙄

Calm down people. It’s a new way of tracking time for hourly employees and a new way of tracking time off for salaried employees. It’s upgrading the current systems and holding people accountable and actually paying them for the hours worked. Not everything is a conspiracy

Chill out people! It’s a timekeeping system for entering time via web based platform. Most people probably already log into/out of their phones as a means of showing their staffed time. Do no change to that mindset. Don’t get worked up over it.

People are paranoid at this company because it seems anytime something new comes out it generally reduces quality of life. It’s always negative for employees, layoffs, reduced benefits, week without pay, more more more. It’s a learned behavior. I’ve only been here a few years and every few months they have to mess with employees lives in some way. So even when something innocuous like a new timekeeping system the default view is that it’s going to screw employees in some way

In other Allstate offices we’ve had timesheets for years. I don’t know why recording your time, especially during remote working should come as a surprise?

wow are you all paranoid. Its simply replacing the timecard system. Exempt employees now will use Kronos to log their PTO. Thats it.

Interesting, we are going to use a system that has the same name as a planet that was destroyed in one of the Star Trek movies, I hope this doesn't explode like the planet did.

Search the intranet for ‘Kronos’. You’ll find more info.

Par for the course micromanaging is reflective of a low trust work environment.

It's intended for hourly employees but there are rumors going around that salaried employees will be using it too. Being chained to a desk might work for some people but humans are diverse and as such, some have a psychological need, not preference NEED, to get up from their desk every so often be it to relieve general pent up stress and anxiety, to take a quick bathroom break, to walk to the water fountain, or even just take a short 5 minute wellness walk as is advocated in the company's energy for life courses. Very odd that the company would implement an Orwellian time keeping system during times of hardship, uncertainty, trials, and tribulations like this. Employees are already stressed out from the looming prolonged layoffs and it's been highlighted that mental health is a serious issue. Employees are already losing it from the combined stress and anxiety of everything they're going through.... hopefully everyone's just overreacting and this isn't more kerosine being poured on the pyre.

We were told it's for hourly employees. You log in and then out for lunch, if you're any amount of time late then you stay to make up the time. If you like an hr lunch you have to log in or stay the extra 30 minutes. No clue what it looks like. If you don't make up the time you will be docked pay.

Details how do we account for every little thing? I already document my claim files and I have a phone log.

I’ve heard about this many times. It’ll probably be similar to what other companies use.

First I’m hearing of this, what did they roll out? Maybe it doesn’t matter because maybe this means I’m not going to have a job anyway
