Jac Nasser got asked to leave instead! :D
Ah yes I remember the lead or leave
The beginning of an ever expanding leader structure filled with pen pushers and empty suits.
A bunch of people pretending to lead.
The true cost savings would come from eliminating the pen pushers and empty suits.
In 2001, then CEO Jacques Nasser uttered the phrase "lead or leave". This was said in several all-employee video presentations. The company wanted employees to strive to be managers or leave Ford. Just excelling at your role as a Grade 8 was not enough.
The higher your salary the less likely you will get a TA or O. This is because you won’t be able to get the associated pay bump as you are at the top of the salary band. So even though you earned a TA or O you will get a Achiever rating.
Ford does not appreciate the GSR 8 technical workers. They feel everyone should be aiming for a leadership position. It wasn’t always this way. There was a GSR 9 band where the highly technical motivated and innovative workers were well compensated. Now there is no motivation for excellence. Ford gets what they deserve in this case.
When I was younger, I got O's. It's been awhile since I've seen those. The only changes are a few more wrinkles and a few more pounds. I hope I make it through the next rounds.
Bunch of 50+ year olds cutting 50+ year olds. Can't be ageism if all the execs are old too
The inequality and trauma caused by institutional ageism is real.
