Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Just a quick question

How many of you are hoping to see Exxon fail due to recent events and the way it's been treating its employees even if it means losing your job?

What's with the future tense of 'hoping' and 'failing'?
That's been done.
Can't flip it over - stuck to grill. Sc-ape it and move on.

Schadenfreude is a valid emotion but unnecessary at this point: as others mentioned, the company has already failed at being the largest U.S. oil company, let alone the world. 30+ yrs ago I started working in a global behemoth, and I will be leaving a small time texas outfit that doesn't know what to do with itself. The U.S. has plenty of other oil companies (Chevron, Pioneer, Marathon ...), and the National oil companies have the rest of the world covered. Whether I wish for it or not, the company will keep shrinking for the next couple of years until it gets down to something that DW can manage - thinking of GE at $9 per share. Can't see where a rebound will come from: plants are old and tired, people are demotivated.

I do want it to fail per se but I want the lies and fraud at the top to be exposed which in turn will cause the company to fail, restructure, and come back as a new more vibrant company

To those of you wanting it to fail have a chip on your shoulder and to those who don't want it to restructure are backwards thinking

I sold all my XOM stock in April at a loss and bought assets that have taken off, XOM is dead for the most part.

I hope for wage rationalization for management and increased work across the board. Both of these will bring the company back to being competitive.

I don’t want it to fail per se but the management sure seems aloof to the point of it being an inevitability. I truly mean that. Someone mentioned it being a shell of its former self and that’s a fair definition. In a lot of ways it has already failed.

I don’t want to see them fail but I would like to see the executives take a substantial pay cut and forgo bonuses until making a profit again. They need to do their part too

“Leaders” failed to walk the talk. This episode reveals to me the company is led by a bunch of brainless zombies who were not appreciative of the employee.
These zombies have s—ed the company until it bleed.
Blessing in disguise to leave this environment, getting job interviews and can’t wait to start afresh and erase this unpleasant episode working in this sh– place.
I pray the company is doomed before year end.

I don't think they'll completely fail, but I want to see them become a hollow shell of their former glory. Oh wait, that has already happened! It's fair to be disgruntled at your employer given the sh–ty practices they have employed to reduce head count. I honestly just want to see them burn given how they treated interns as cheap labor during this summer.

I want executives and managers to be held accountable.
I don't think that's failing.
Moreover, regardless of what we want, they (Dallas) are failing on their own.
You can't beat a dead horse.

Based on below responses, what a bunch of selfish grumpy people. You are also rooting for you coworkers and friends to also be layed off, let go, and struggle financially due to a few bad decisions from the top.

No American should truly want Exxon to fail. Better leadership across the company would be great.

Not that I'm rooting for anyone to fail but I am prepared to take my savings and move on if necessary.

Well, I've already lost my job. Do I want EM to fail? It may be mean spirited, but after the way I was dismissed, yes - wholeheartedly! But only after one last rally on the stock exchange. Stupid me and my long-term (30+ years) faith in the company's top management - I have too much invested in EM stock and need it to get back up to the $60-$70 range before I sell. In truth, my pension estimate is disappointing - not as much as I expected - and I need to rely more on the 401(K) than I thought.

ExxonMobil cannot totally fail. Tesla cannot provide electric batteries to jet engines, long distance diesel trucks, cruise ships, large cargo ships and excavation machines for mining. Plastics and many chemicals are made from raw materials that are a byproduct from crude oil. I am hoping ExxonMobil to recover and it will. I am hoping for the useless middle managers who serve no purpose besides stabbing others and the incompetent people in EMRE and including Darren W to be stripped naked and thrown into a sewer. But ExxonMobil will recover in 1-2 years - not because of the people but because oil prices will eventually increase - there are too many fools in the world still having 4-12 children and population increase will increase demand for plastics, fuel etc.
