Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

BN Shopping

I went to my local BN to see how far they had fallen. A total of 4 employees were manning a huge store. Oh, and some guy actually bought a CD, like the old fashioned kind. Down with BN.

They keep cutting hours. It's definitely a secure feeling.

First week back I was on the schedule 18 hours. This week’s schedule- I have 10.
The store is dead. Barely any business.

Not much is selling. Corporate is being very careful what and how much is being shipped to stores.
It's not going to be a regular Christmas Season...
if there even is one.

I don't see how much longer we can keep going. Business is awful and who will come out during the holidays with the flu and Covid? You'd have to be out of your mind. Everyone is going to shop online for everything.

I worked yesterday. Saturday.
There were only 4 of us. A cashier, one person in the the cafe, the manager and me , on the floor. Barely saw the mgr my entire shift.
Barely any customers. Those who did come in mostly hung out.
Can’t see us making any money.

I wonder if we were at the same store. Interesting.

Yes my old store barely had any customers and maybe 4 booksellers/managers and small Cafe staff. Meanwhile the manager is saying everything is wonderful, doing well. Problem is with that staffing you can’t answer the phones and provide excellent service to the customers. The few customers will soon lose interest in B&N.

The way they are trying to run their stores is ridiculous now. (Also, there is nothing wrong with buying cds. Some people still drive sh–ty cars you know)

Only the old people are still buying, they're afraid or don't know how to order from Amazon.
And the ones going into the store, risking their health are mentally ill.
