Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Refusing to address diversity and inclusion

I was part of the home office Easter M—acre in 2013. I see little has changed! Also hearing Follett is doing nothing about addressing diversity/inclusion/racism in the organization.
Almost no non white people as directors/department heads/senior management besides Peterkin.

No I’m not talking about quotas or affirmative action or hiring unqualified people based on skin color but follett has a problem. Sure doesn’t help with HBCUs.

What a crock. It should have read, "soon to be defunct book fairs."

BF gets a board role she doesn’t deserve to go on the resume she doesn’t need to keep getting promoted for doing nothing in the company with her name on it. She’ll brag about it like she does that “Emmy Award” she tells everyone she won leaving out the word “local” and the fact that she spent her days reporting in the smallest market in America competing against the man who reported about the the two headed calf and the woman that won the local rodeo.

Plastic spoons in McHenry!
If you got any you're doing better than everyone else.
But FSS is paying all the bills anyway so you deserve any plastic spoons that are available.
Remember, it's about Data and Science!

While they're figuring out diversity and inclusion, I hope they also take time to consider why there's always a shortage of plastic spoons at the McHenry facility.

Good thing we are all going to be laid off equally soon. This isn’t the kind of thing places fighting to keep the lights on have time for.

Yes, refusing to address diversity and inclusion is definetly a main, if not "the main" priority the company needs to focus on ahead of any plan to focus on recovering from the destruction COVID-19 has created with mass layoffs and catastrophic financial woes. Thanks for the suggestion, we'll get on it right away.

The only race you should be concerned with is the race to get the hell out of there and get a new job.

The SVP of diversity and inclusion was and is only a virtue-signaling reaction to political topics in the media. Human Resources is fully equipped to investigate claims of civil rights violations without another expensive Vice President. Follett is not a racist firm and numerous persons of color have been promoted into positions of prestige within it. Follett has bigger problems with paying its bills and the catastrophic sales declines this fall. You will not need to worry about the original issues you cite when the company is more concerned with whether it will financially live or die after this year.

Pay the dividends to the family and then file for Chapter 11. Many vendors has been left holding the bag, none of them will get paid.

There is no interest from public or private companies in acquiring this train wreck. Outside of the businesses based in McHenry there is zero value. No vision. No true leaders. PC pushed out because TL and cousins still not prepared to accept the empire is gone.

At this point probably the least of the company’s worries. Worst rush ever, sales off 60% if not more. It will be interesting to see if the company stays afloat.

Hire someone and RIF them 6 months later?

Out of control, no direction.

Abandon ship!

Actually in the April 2020 m—acre, they laid off the VP of diversity and inclusion - seriously. She was probably only in that position for 6 months. No division at Follett will survive this wreck. They should be looking for a buyer to get some cash for the family members stock.

It's largely irrelevant as pretty soon there won't be anyone working for Follett – black, white, yellow, purple or green. It's like watching the Titanic sink and worrying that your shoes are gonna get wet.
