Has anyone heard about layoffs in September since it is the end of the third quarter?

Early notification is nothing but notice that your job is redundant at a specified future date. they did this with a group i have previously worked at AIG, informing them that they will be made redundant as of x date in november
What is "Early notification"?
Is Early Notification when they tell you to train your replacement and you stay on with AIG but, you don't do any work once you train them? They keep you around for Q&A then after some time, they cut you or move you to the new 3rd party company if you accept?
Early notification is what they are calling it. NO RIFs now but effective later. Sounds like work will be transitioned to a managed services. Not sure whats the extent of this RIF model.
They will move jobs out of the Tri-State area. Jobs will go to low cost States or Overseas. The jobs that will stay in Tri-State area will be the profit centers. The back office somewhere in America or India.
This is bigger than AIG. Many companies are now starting to lay-off people. We even have major companies such as Exxon, who will stop contributing to their workers 401k to preserve there very important Dividend. This is capitalism at its worst.
They can't layoff anymore in my area....it would stop our work..I suspect its time to make it obvious that our jobs will be moved overseas but, I'm not seeing that yet. Maybe the first of the year?
its pretty simple. current leadership has shown no ability to actually fix a failing business unit so if your business unit is not making money, there will be layoffs.
if your business unit is doing okay, then you may not get rifed, you will just remain stagnant in your career indefinitely.
if you work in a non-profitable unit, look for another job asap. if you work for a profitable unit, look for another job on your own terms. either way, look for another job.
