Was this position eliminated? I can’t see the stores having author events etc. in 2020

They did let a lot of them go, right after the pandemic started. The one in my store went from being CBDM for two stores, to 6 stores after the furloughs and layoffs. Tripled the workload, but offered no additional compensation.

CBDM was dying even pre covid.
We went without one for months,
And a book floor employee was doing most of it.

A lot of our big school contracts dried up,
Due to lack of funding.

Ten years back, it was bustling.

The 3 CSEMs I’ve dealt with had the other booksellers pretty much fo their jobs. One wasn’t even there during events.?Most Authors contacted them. They set a day. Booksellers set up tables , chairs, worked lines ( for bigger Authors).
School orders- receivers separated, counted , boxed up, shipped to schools.
When receiving Mgrs were fired, part timers were shipping them out. Numbers were off. Schools didn’t get hem when they wanted them ( days, sometimes weeks late). Lost a lot of school orders since 2018.
