I am sorry your son was laid off. But blaming the "big bad company" is laughable at best.
Nothing is forever. It is well known that the aircraft industry has its ups and downs. He should have gone in knowing this. The internet is a wonderful thing.
He made a choice to work at Beong
He made a choice to buy a new car
He made a choice to buy a house.
Its ok to buybthose things, but you have to have money put away to live if you lose your job.
When I graduated, they told us we would work for 3 to 4 companies in our careers, there's no "lifetime jobs" anymore. I'm on job number 4. I will probably exceed 4. Kids coming in today are told they will.work for 8 to 10 companies.
I have been laid off 4 times in my career. I have been through two companies that no longer exist. When the market drops, its not about being a bad employee, its about the company cutting costs. I got out there, I interviewed and I got another job. I never lost my house, my car, or moved back with my parents, nor did I ever ask my parents for money. I live within my means.
If you did not prepare your offspring for this eventuality, that's on you, not him.
He is not "entitled" to a specific lifestyle. None of us are. I am glad you are willing to take him in, but make him look for another job and nothing is "beneath" him
