True. Bill did the right thing when Alan came in and backed off, mostly because he had no other choice. Alan did everything he could to quell the internal strife and fiefdoms that Bill had allowed to build up during his CEO tenure. Alan left and Bill believed the press clippings that he was as much Ford's savior as Alan was when in reality the company was saved because he stepped back. Now we're seeing the results of almost a decade of Bill running the company.
