Sometime during the furlough months the vacation hour policy was changed. Now after being laid off HR is trying to tell me that they cant pay me my vacation time that I earned last year because they gave me some stupid small amount during furlough (ex I had 75 hrs earned vaca and was only given 13.25 when furlough started). Is this legal? Can they change the rules like that and refuse to give me my time that I earned?

Any separation pay to those oart timers who were laid off sept 4?
March 18th ( look it up) at the beginning of the virus pandemic BN announced lay offs were coming. Jimmy was grateful for The pandemic . He could blame it for the massive firings he wanted to do.
Faint planned to use COVID as an excuse from the beginning. Going back to mid March he said layoffs would likely occur. He was planning it & now had his catalyst.
You will not be getting that vaca money or any money.
There are new laws protecting Business, amidst covid.
B&N tends to follow the law to the letter, so it's not worth pursuing.
Called HR and they are claiming that it is based on prorated hours even though the number of prorated hours that I earned (based on the furlough check) doesn't match up with the number of prorated hours that the hraccess website says I earned. Nice.
This place is my lunch break entertainment but I'll check in more since they said they take down the really good posts!
I'm glad I won't be working at this place much longer, it's totally toxic.
In California they CANNOT do this. Contact the California Labor Board.
Oh yeah, you'll be getting no extra money, those days went away 2 years ago. Time to get a lawyer and many will be with more people getting fired in September.
Good luck!
