Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

PIP is a Lottery

The only reason a very small % of PIPed employees may be saved will to be show on paper that it was not a lay-off to avoid any legal battles. It may not have to do anything with the actual performance improvement so stop fooling yourself.

Accept the fact that passing of PIP will be a lottery just so corporation doesn't have legal liabilities, ...but what a lottery! — it is a curse to continue in the same rotten pond until someone finds a reason to get rid of you.

: @1idv+16Ea0gab How ignorant. What are you the PIP police? There were plenty of high CL levels posting to the boards that were cut. The truth is the people not willing to backstab coworkers, the people that still believed in teamwork were let go. People who are on teams with no work because most of Exxon’s projects are halted doing nothing. The company has way too much staff with nothing to do because there’s no work. It’s something not seen before in history and your trying so hard to hide it from the public you come to these boards and spew your bs. Go back to your little cubicle and try to think about what your going to do to backstab your coworkers and stay in the game for next round. It’s all you have right now. The environment a mo–n if a ceo has created.

@1idv+16Ea0gab I haven’t been let go, and I haven’t been pip’d. I’ve been there 33 years, and what I’m witnessing is just plain wrong. Sure, some of those let go were poor performers, but most were not. And there are still plenty of low performers who still have their job, but shouldn’t. At HQ, of all places. Stop gloating, and try to remember that a little empathy and compassion can go a long way. Good people’s lives have been turned upside down, and they’re hurting. Your attitude isn’t helping anyone, except maybe to feed your own arrogance and feelings of self-worth. Employees like you are what make it a toxic and hostile work environment. Good luck in the future.

@1idv+16Ea0gab. Is this not bad enough or you need something worst?
Where Exxon stands today
Exxon's stock has fallen for more than the simple fact that oil is out of favor. In cold hard numbers, Exxon simply isn't making as much as it was in the golden period between 2005 and the beginning of 2015. On top of that, its debt burden is ballooning and its free cash flow (FCF) has gone negative as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on oil and gas demand and prices. Lower FCF means Exxon is now supporting its dividend with debt, which is unsustainable over the long term.

Here's Why Chevron Is the Last Oil Stock in the Dow and Not ExxonMobil

: @1wiw+16Ea0gab You May be right about blessings. It’s easy out of touch with the world while living, eating and breathing ExxonMobil but once your back it’s clear how bad their reputation is. I’ve had people literally laugh and say things like oh I’d never put my money there. It was unsettling. They have slowly become a laughing stock.

The people coming here to gloat are not worth responding to. I’m sure their wake up call is coming.

@1xcw+16Ea0gab not that I see. I see dead weight being let go in the form of poor performing individuals.

The comment was geared towards the impact of how the PIP was conducted. And again, no, it will not lead to bad things. You wake up and realize that maybe if you had done just a little bit more, you wouldn't have been let go.

Doubtful that any bad things will happen. But whatever helps you sleep at night bud.

Bad things will happen to XOM. Its inevitable when you do something like what they just did to their people. They are far to arrogant to see it or believe it but it’s coming.

Move on, this is not a company that practice fair workplace. We have a better opportunity awaits us than this sun set industry. It’s not the end of the world.
For supervisors who betrayed their employee, your turn is coming soon.
For HR, conscientiously, ask yourself how long more can you conceal this immoral HR practice.

All your years of accomplishments in EM is not recognized, not worth to spend another 3 months in PIP, by default, the failure rate is guaranteed.
Scum leaders, bad management, waste no time and effort talking to bunch of cronies like DW. 1 DW to sink EM ship...hurray!
