Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Some problems but still darn good

I am still a proud member of the Gulfstream team and can't help but think if these folks were too their prospective would be different. It's TRUE there have been layoffs but none of us know the real challenges that huge companies like Gulfstream face and the reasons for the need to layoff employees. With that being said we are STILL the leader and the standard in our class of jets. The employees that still remain like me still have nothing but pride in the products we produce.

Hey don’t stop at flipping off only the aircraft. I give the one finger salute to all white parking tags too.

Glad you’re are proud of GACs planes. They are awesome. But any role it’s employees play in their beauty and functionality is of no value to the company. I can’t say much more than that or it will identify me. I was a useful tool towards the success of a product line until I was given a perp walk out the door with hundreds of others. I didn’t expect a thanks for the role I played in the company’s success. But what I did get was horrible.

For anyone recruited to GAC, ask for a huge enough salary and benefits package that will make it worth the risk working for the company entails. Consider not relocating your family to Savannah, because you are expendable in the blink of an eye.

Agree with the person below my post. Gulfstream made a loud and clear statement about the value of those that busted our butts for its profitability. We are lower than dog sh–. I’ll flip the bird each and every time one of the planes I bled for flies over my house. How stupid was I caring about a product only the absolute richest of the very rich can afford when GAC treated me like a piece of c-ap? Time for a revolution.

Sorry...but a company that caters to the filthiest of the filthy rich that puts people who dedicate themselves to its success out on the street during a f—ing pandemic is the epitome of evil. I won’t rest until everyone knows that. You can s— up to stay employed, but you are lowliest than slime on the bottom of MarkBurns shoe, and just as respected.

You all need to move on... good or bad comments. Don’t be a negative bad vibe person nor a kiss butt praiser!!! It is just a job in an average US Company! The reality is Good companies, take good care of their employees in bad times! Does GD/Gulfstream do the same? Maybe yes, maybe not! Life is short ! Don’t be a hater not a brown nose person!

Lol let me guess the OP is actually HR or marketing, doing the usual "let's put something pretty over it," rather then actually solving the problem. Anything to save face, but not a real solution.

Also HR gives themselves away when they ask the OP to cite their source or who they got their information from. That's how you know stuff on here is accurate.

You think poisoning employees with hex-chrome , screwing them out of pay and benefits per government contracts, helping customers dodge taxes etc. are qualities of a good company? You sir are part of the problem. The “G” stands for garbage. It’s a rushed design and false image. Wake up.

OP- can you not absorb the reflections on this website enough to understand that your perception is skewed? Back up, take a deep breath and get your head into it. For your own good.

Drinking the kool-aid deep throat. Happy that you feel happy, but don't tell lies to other people about how f*cked is GAC.

I worked at Gulfstream for 5 long years as a direct employee. I survived Fred Breidenback and Theodore Forstmann and Dan Nail. I enjoyed working and designing the G-IVSP and G-V. After certification, layoffs always hit engineering devastatingly hard. I walked over 50 shoppers out the door and it was hard. They we're my co-workers, my mentors and my friends. After certification, G-V laid off at least 100 great engineers. Being a direct did not make you safe. I constantly was avoiding getting laid off. I made it to 5 years then quit to go job shopping. All of those shoppers I laid off looked out for me. They got me job leads and told me what rate to ask for. Gulfstream was a stepping stone. I got much better jobs after that. Lochheed is still my favorite, but Gulfstream is where I made life long friends... with the contractor's. Gulfstream management team has always played favourites. I'm just not that kind of person. I have a conscience and my soul is not for sale. Some where you will find a better job, may pay less but, so what. You'll sleep better.

What a disgusting and delusional OP. GAC would stab you in the back and twist the knife if necessary to maintain the management bonus scam.

If you are still working for Gulfstream, why are you trolling us at the layoff page? Because you are worried that you are next? Its the middle of the work day and you are here? Are you trolling using a GAC owned device? They record the IP addresses of posters you know.

I think you need to reset your expectations if you are looking on a layoff page for positive comments.

You don’t have to work for another aerospace company to appreciate the one you work at, or have pride in the work we do.
There is so much negativity on these boards.
Find another job if you do not like the one you have. Life is too short. Move on. Better yet, try to fill your glass up if it’s so empty.
I am very thankful for what Gulfstream/GD have provided my family, and am thankful that I have a job when so many do not.

And that my friends is your exact GAC brown noser. These are the typical ones that would survive all RIFs year after year.

I’ve heard from two A&Ps who worked on many various jets saying that Bombardier jets are built a bit better in terms of overall quality, but specifically interior parts, and more “techy” as well.

You’re correct in the fact that Gulfstream is the standard others strive to achieve with their business jet product; however, life is short and the world is much larger than Savannah, Georgia. I, like many that have departed under our own power these past couple of months, am proud of my contribution to Gulfstream’s accomplishments and accolades, but there are better companies out there, and I encourage you to consider taking your skills to a company with better leadership. Your future is at stake.
