I just received a call that I'm to be separated from the company after 20 years as a lead. It's effective Sept. 4, 2020.
Anyone else who reads this: don't be surprised. Others here have been trying to warn us. The jig is up! BN has let good experienced long-timers go in favor of later hires who barely give a sh*t about anything other than their phones & taking selfies. Those were the people they were bringing in before COVID.
Also, you're more valuable if you kiss A*S with management. If you're a person of integritiy & you don't s— up & fawn over managers, you're toast.

By now, the only fools who don't know this company is the worst, are the ones who still pay for that useless member card.
Barnes and Noble is giving employees just enough hours to prevent them from filing partial employment claims. You work 4 days 29 hours while still keeping you part time. A rock and a hard place. Before it was 22 hours but to many employees still slapped them with unemployment claims so now they require 30 hours and won’t let people work a true part time schedule.
What does a company think when it furloughs employees for five months, lies to them and doesn’t keep in touch with them. The store tells employees they are bringing people back in order of hire then you hear and see otherwise. The store brings in employees from other stores, calls back their pets and more recent hires than other hires. The store requires that employees have open schedules and work 30 hours, basically full time schedules. And all this for a part time minimum wage job. Of course the word will get out to employees, customers and friends and the company will suffer. In these times, consumers are demanding companies are ethical, honest and support the communities they work in.
