Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

More layoffs, more closings and who is next?

BALTIMORE —
The iconic Barnes & Noble store located at The Power Plant in Baltimore's Inner Harbor will close its doors on Aug. 29.

In a statement, the bookstore giant said, "it has been a privilege to run it as one of the most distinctive bookstores of the United States but these very attributes now make it extraordinarily expensive both to run and to maintain."

Hell, they can't even afford to pay their staff anymore!

That store should have been shut down years ago. It was never profitable - even during much better years. Another example of poor decision-making by senior leadership.

It was a showpiece, and the company has nothing left to show.
