I miss ORCL like a case of COVID-19
I was lucky. I worked in a great organization with great peers and outstanding managers. So I can tell you my time at Oracle was positive. Having said that, I would never go back. No raises, no bonuses, departments and management so toxic they should be declared superfund sites. The org I worked in is long gone and I would imagine that what is left turning into a live action version of game of thrones about now.
Oracle was a great place because you could draw decent pay while working just under a couple of hours a day.
I work at Oracle. I wouldn’t tell anyone to come here. The management is the worst. Culture is so toxic. No raises or promotions and if someone is hired to fill a position they’re usually from the outside or kissed major a–. I laugh cause the people here think they’re on top of their game and their the bird droppings of tech.
I am making way more money and treated like a person and a professional, so yes, it's a much better world out there...my time at Oracle was not positive...its for the best ! Sorry to burst your bubble, but ORCL is NOT a top employer.
We are actively trying to copy other companies.
people stay in AMazon averagely for less than 2 years. All the people I know stay in Oracle for 10,15 years, that tells a lot about how people feel about the companies. Of course in some way, this contributes to the issues Oracle facing today.
I’m afraid your memory of employment at oracle bleeds back into “the good old days”. People hiring into oracle now or in the last couple of years won’t stay long. It’s a completely different company now.
I understand your sadness. Oracle is an interesting place and many people have enjoyed the experience working there. You won't ever find another company like it. Hang in there - you will find new areas of happiness!
I’m ex-ORCL and currently in AMZN. I miss my time with Oracle and my former colleagues. I came to realize Oracle is one of the best companies for employees after I left. Money is not everything, people stay in AMazon averagely for less than 2 years. All the people I know stay in Oracle for 10,15 years, that tells a lot about how people feel about the companies. Of course in some way, this contributes to the issues Oracle facing today.
