Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

The general public and most shareholders have no idea what ExxonMobil has become.

ExxonMobil is a global operating company, but make no mistake, it is first and foremost an American company based in Texas. The public has no idea what the company has been doing the past decade, which is getting rid of American jobs. Nonstop moving of jobs to overseas and 3rd party support companies. Lots of Houston based jobs have been shipped to South America, India, and Malaysia while letting American employees go and keeping it all under the radar. Now they are flat out firing folks instead of a "layoff". ExxonMobil has been deceiving the public as they try to project their image as a great American company. They are about to have a PR nightmare that will hurt the public perception even more than ever. The entire line of executives down through all management is responsible for tanking of ExxonMobil. The ship is quickly sinking and the mo–nic so called leadership has no clue how to recover.

XOM is becoming the worst company in the century overnight after being booted out from DOW.

If anyone ever experienced spending hours with help desk or 3rd party contractors to work on simple problems that should have taken only few minutes to resolve if the "supposed-to-help-others" person had the proper knowledge and skills as they advertised, you would see how the OP made lot of sense.

If anyone ever worked with teams in the other parts of the world and had to spend countless hours to redo everything for them, you would realize that moving projects to other regions didn't mean saving cost.

Being cheaper doesn't mean saving more if you end up spending more time and more resources to fix things at the end. Someone needs to do internal audit and produce a benchmark for real cost savings to see how bs all these "fake" cost savings strategies are.

Xom was different because it held out longer than anyone else to the curse of offshoring. And as long as it did it remained solvent. Now look at the org announcements: the only ones with American names are retirements. Outsourcing (India, Malaysia, Brazil, Argentina, Hungary ...) along with immense experienced hiring,, has reduced the ability of the company to transmit its culture. I joke that, 30 years ago I joined a global behemoth, and now I will be retiring from a mediocre Texas outfit. Good luck to y'all.

If the future goal is to move toward robotic remote field work and we outsource omg this country is in trouble. I can only imagine the horrible disaster that will turn into. It will destroy what is left of this country.

@1qor+16A1Yut6 It shows in quality. My online accounts no longer work 60% of the time. I’m not sure what is happening but I have done business with the same bank for almost 15 years and have never had issues with them like I’m having since they’ve outsourced to India. And try calling your cell phone provider with their three hour hold times.

Lol. Many American jobs have been going overseas outside of exxonmobil (in just about every). What company's customer service doesn't send you to a call center based in India now a days. American labor is many times more expensive than what you can get elsewhere. Blame our politicians for allowing this to happen.

Typical ExxonMobil employee lack of perspective right here. Go read the boards at the other majors, the bigger E&P companies, and the big service companies. Every single one of them will be in similar situations.
