Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

After unemployed from AIG

Has anyone used the service that AIG provides R* S They are services to help find job, but there’s a part of me that doesn’t trust it.

What if they find me job I don’t want, Will they take away my severance for refusing a job. Or worse, if they offer me job back to AIG for a lot less money!

Has anyone experienced this?

I recommend RS. Resume writing is very good. They have useful webinars about job search and interviews, and templates for follow up with examples. My coach was also good. They give advice. They match your resume with jobs on the market and send you lists that you can also find elsewhere. They will not find a job for you and will not publish your resume anywhere. You have to do your own search and apply.

Agree with most posts here. They also acted as a good base for me when I was in the city meeting recruiters or interviewing. I could use their office space and amenities (computers/meeting rooms/toilets/coffee machine) so I didn’t walk the streets or end up in coffee shops trying to find a quiet corner to take calls.
Being in the city becomes a little weird when you don’t have a job. My advice, take any support you can get but the onus is on you to get a new gig. Good luck.

I used them when I was laid off by AIG in 2018. The individual was a great cheerleader but ultimately it’s up to you to find a new job. They proofed my resume and gave some good idea on how to use linked in as a tool. It was free so I’d say use it. But again ultimately it’s up to you to find a job.

Resume service wasn’t great either, at least the person I had. Left off important information that was clearly given and not one skill listed. Better off finding someone else.

I got laid off in 2014 and used the company they provided at that time. I had them write my resume and cover letter but other than that they were useless. They tried telling me of job openings but everything was to far to drive and they got irritated when I said I didn’t want to drive clear across town. Get what you can out of them since it’s free.

I use them for the resume writing which was great other than that waste of time to sit there with webinars and seminars.

They have certified resume writers that are helpful in updating your resume. Otherwise, RS does not find you a job. They are not a recruiting service. They supply resources, and answer questions that will assisting your job search. I
