Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

This CEO is a lying sack of sh–. They are forcing people out who have 20 years with the company who are disabled, but not retirement eligible. These employees will lose their medical insurance ASAP, will not be able to draw their pension for years, and likely will not be employable because disabled. They are breaking the law and they figure they can get away with it because the economy is tanking. It was in the plans since April and the CEO says in May no layoffs. F—ing liar. And yet his compensation and other executive compensation did not decrease. I feel sorry for the loyal, hard working employees who are getting tagged for the botton 8% without any clue in advance.

Are they really axing non worker bees. Some of the most useless people were promoted to supervisor and middle level managers.

Consider the all real possibility that many non-productive sneaky employees will continue to survive and keep dragging the company down?

Looking forward to the managers turns. Hopefully they get the clowns that have terrorized us for years

I can’t wait to get the hell out of there. My life is worth more than working for an arrogant, toxic company that relishes on ruining people’s life’s. Yes they do destroy and you are nothing to them. Worst company I have ever worked for in over 40 years of being in the oil and gas industry.

Ahh.. the golden handcuffs argument: Stay in the abusive relationship because they pay well.

The three proportions as employer of choice have been undermined:

• there is no longer training and mentoring is inexistent
• reputation as the best, lost after two decades of blunders and unfulfilled promises
• career longevity and job security, not anymore

People who’ve left the company tend to romanticize and they’ve become accustomed to the toxicity of the command-and-control culture. They don’t see a problem with the lack of diversity, the failure to read market signals and adapt to energy transition, and they don’t even see a problem with the relentless bullying and disdain to “millennials”.

“S— it up, we’ve had it worse” ain’t going to cut it anymore.

"but now isn’t the time to leave to other Energy companies". If your skills fit other industries, no hesitate to go. So many have left, are leaving, or will leave for other industries.

Completely agree. There is likely a restructuring coming with many worker bees being let go. The span of control metrics are soon to be outside of KPI. Something will have to happen.

The managers/supervisors are going to be in the next wave.
