What is the new store count?

Have not seen any closing posts recently
Are we still holding at 95 fls left?

The original poster here asked about fls (full line stores). The answer to that question is 59 Sears and 34 Kmarts, total 93.

Someone else can make and maintain a list of Sears Hometown stores, but that is the answer to a different question.

@3wdq+166ILIws When you stay at any hotel (Ramada Inn, Hampton Inn, Marriott, whatever) it is owned by individual owners, not the main company. They still count right? When you go to Subway, Wendys KFC, etc., those are individually owned. Yet they still count!

@psc+166ILIws Very few (or probably zero) Mcdonalds are owned by Mcdonalds too. Most (if not all) are owned by individual franchisees. Yet, they are still included in store counts. Why should Sears be any different? When you go buy that Big Mac, you are buying it from an individual owned store. But you still Say "I'm going to Mcdinalds". You don't Say "I'm going to the restaurant owned by Fred Smith".

@3wdq+166ILIws Why count stores Sears doesn't own? Simple. Most (if not all) Burger Kings, Wendys, KFC's, etc.. are owned by individual franchisees, NOT by the company. But we count them and still include them in store counts.. Most, if not all, hotels are owned by individual owners, and NOT by the head corporate company. But of course, they are still counted. When you go to Subway to buy a sandwich, you are buying it from the individual owner, NOT Subway corporate. But that location still counts in Subway's total store counts. Why should Sears be any different? There is a post below, about this.

If they buy from him, but he cannot supply inventory, are they really buying from him then?

Why count stores Sears doesn't own. Hometown is owned by families , not Eddie. They buy from him but he cannot supply inventory. They should not be counted.

Even Sears Finance and Accountants literally don't count them. Seriously, no one knows the number. Not Leena. Not Robert. There's no longer a Director of Sears Hometown, they left the virtual building. Not a single person. Certainly the website hasn't counted them for years. Why should anyone else? They don't count, never have.

Why does it matter?

Pre Covid people honestly did not care and never included hometown stores and no one said anything. Now it’s a big deal and even the appliance/mattress stores are separated. Pre Covid we said 89 full line Sears and no one made a deal or separated. Now it’s an issue that hometown aren’t included. People are arguing just to argue it seems like. Just like the person always complaining this is a “Sears Board” not a “Kmart Board.”

Very few Sears Hometowns are owned by Sears, that's why. And unlike Eddie, most of them were managed by actual business people who were profitable until he was unable to supply them with inventory. Each and every one of them would have run Sears better than Eddie and his Klown Krew.

The question asks about "fls" which means "full-line stores". Therefore not Hometown, Home & Life, or Appliance stores.

Which Kmarts received product?

Several Kmarts this week posted on Facebook about receiving new pantry items, etc. That's not a store in active liquidation at the present moment.

Sears: 59, If you count only full-size Sears stores (not 3 Home & Life, 4 Appliance & Mattress, or Naranjito PR).

Kmart: 34, not counting the Brooklyn Kmart-inside-Sears.

Total: 93

Are there any stores that aren't effectively liquidating? The stores aren't paying rent, there's no inventory, there's no buyers, vendors and creditors aren't getting paid, all sellable assets are sold, websites and rewards programs are useless, products undeliverable, and less than 1.2% of the stores are remaining from when Eddie acquired the company.
