Why so much negativity.. we know this will come one day.. Bloomberg covered it pretty well, we had time (at least decade) to prepare our exit plan and if you had not prepared for one. I’m sorry that it come quicker this time due to the unfortunate pandemic. It’s a catalyst but we were headed this way already.

I was hopeful with Woods but now I’m certain we need an external experienced CEO to turn this ship around.

It's always been a beauty contest not an objective performance evaluation. Style over substance. The very people who got our company into this mess are the ones benefiting under the current performance evaluation system. Turns out according to our performance evaluation system our "best and brightest" are rewarded to be losers.

Doubtful that PIP's will survive. They are absolutely the worst performers that the company has to offer.

Unlike Chevron, at least we aren’t openly and publicly discriminating based on s-x and race as part of this “definitely not a lay-off” process. https://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2020/07/24/business/24reuters-global-race-chevron.html

Those that are trying the PIP may survive now that this has been published.
EM may decide not to cut those that are taking the PIPs, in order to say it was not bogus on trying to
help/assist employees to be able to stay.
It will depend on if the 8% was met within each department unless they go another route now.
They should start with the Manangers they trusted to cut the right people, who cut the people they didn’t like and or PIP’s those they didn’t like.

To the first person to respond. If you’ve read through the other threads you’d see most have been blind sided by this so called performance issue. Now the company is using “performance” as a way to get rid of a mass of salaried employee’s (up to 8%) plain and simple, along with 8% of employees with less than 2 years in the company. They aren’t sharing this information with investors or even the general population of employee’s keeping them in the dark and it being transparent. Come Oct 31st or sooner when the company starts telling those trying to improve their performance thanks but not enough we’ll know it was a rigged system. But we’ll never know how many survived the pip because that won’t be published either.

If we know the reality about what a superman called "performing poorly" like the one above, we will stop acting or talking as the drone above, sorry Superman said. I think you are the person who do not have any idea how Exxon works, and indeed many companies use the same system. They put the people that the can manage in their circle even they do not know about the business. Then when this situation happens about performing and leaving people ranks people when the do not have the leadership or knowledge in the business is wrong and can cause this PIP problem. This part is dedicate to the the Superman above; you have to remember when you came out the school with high grade, but without knowledge and maybe one of those guys you you called poor performer was teaching you how to work. Please be quiet, because this kind of system is a complete cr*p knowing that the PIP was designed to layoff people.

Maybe the company should reach out to the reporter and provide some true transparency regarding the cuts that are occurring and the business climate.

Let’s also be truthful sometimes cuts are not about performance and meeting deliverables. It can be political.

Benji Jones, how about doing real reporting rather than trying to talk with angry employees that were let go for performing poorly.
