I don't know. Why can't they just announce who is going and who is staying. Maybe I'll apply to Geico... I just don't understand their justification by saying they're doing layoffs then not announcing who is going? It's terrible.

I agree. The not knowing is worse than a thousand rumors!
My guess if they are/we’re hoping that people would find other jobs and leave due to the pending layoff, thus reducing severance cost.
How is that plan working? No idea
