What happens to your unused PTO if you leave?

Unused PTO carries a max of 40 hours over. The rest goes to a short term disability bank.
You will be paid for any PTO hours that you have accrued, up to a maximum of 40 hours. Unless you happen to be lucky enough to live in a state where they can't cap it at 40 hours. In which case, you would be paid for whatever you had accumulated.
A max of 5 PTO days will be paid out unless state/local law says otherwise.
If you have earned the PTO per company policy then it should be paid out as vacation pay.
