When the final day of attrition occurs, the remaining employees would be wise to organize and establish a union to prevent or minimizing future activities like this lay-off. History is a great educator and motivator.

Yea let’s just increase our cost by installing a union, crazy 😜 ideas
Unions are worse than corporate greed...which this is still not....no matter how much you whine about it.
Unions are useless and s— away your money, not a chance.
and people on the verge of being terminated are not those who try to start unions id–t. It is those who feel they are mistreated in some way or the working conditions are dangerous. Someone going to lose their job would not try to unionize as a union would not be able to prevent that. mo–n.
Jacka$$. Read the law before you speak. Union talk is 100% protected and if you terminate someone for trying to unionize no only will you be sued, you will have to return the person to their job and pay huge penalties. Shut up and stop filling this board with useless, uneducated answers and stir up false hope. I am so tired of id–ts posting half truths and false information. Read the labor laws and then come talk to me and have an intelligent conversation.
And if you work at Allstate you know D**n well the politics and having to do TDYs in Home Office in order to move up. People, just do your job and hope for the best but expect the worst. Get your resume out there and look. Don't listen to these id–ts filling your head with nonsense. You can try to unionize but Allstate is very good at union avoidance.
And if you are terminating employees for trying to unionize then you are no better than the id–ts at the top. Skirting the laws and practicing unethical means to justify an end. Go read then we'll talk.
If you truly worked at the level in HR that you claim you would be smart enough to know that they didn't term those employees for attempting to unionize but the vast majority of those were already close to termination such as being on UN's for performance, attendance, and most of the time both. There's always something and if the company has such information on the basis of termination then a challenge would never get off the ground. I can see why you didn't get anywhere in 16 years with this company in one of the most lacking in terms of knowledge and execution areas of this company in reading your tripe and drivel. Aside from ATSC the HR area of Allstate is one of the most inept areas and biggest jokes of the company and you seemingly are/were the poster child.
Unions can't protect you from layoffs, only if it is in the CBA and that is not common at all. They can however negotiate better severance packages but you have no idea what you will be giving up that you have right now once they begin the negotiations. The last thing you need to know is that unionization is localized so you would need to coordinate every office in every state otherwise one state may win representation but other states won't, which Allstate could then just shut down operations in that state and move to another, non union, state. It isn't as easy as just call a union and poof, there you go. I didn't even get into what you need to even have a union vote which isn't easy to get either.
For the person saying they terminate those who start it, do you research, that is against the law and would have been all over the news with huge settlements. Allstate does a very good job at union avoidance which is why it hasn't unionized. I worked in HR there for 16 years before moving on. Your best bet is to just find another job and only stay at an employer as long as you feel secure. Once you don't have that feeling anymore, move on. You'll advance in your career faster too, I did, Further in 5 years after leaving Allstate than I did in 16 years there.
Do they even have labor Unions in India?
Be careful. I worked in a different industry years ago and the employees started generating talk about unionizing. The company transitioned to independent contractors.
While I can't disagree with you there have been several attempts to form a union at Allstate and everytime the organizing employees are promptly terminated before it even comes close to getting off the ground. Allstate has zero tolerance for even saying the word union because they know their deceitful and questionable rules and methods would be no more.
