AT&T Exit Survey

Manager informed of surplus on 7/10. Tonight I received an “AT&T Exit Survey”.

“Thank you for your contributions to AT&T. We are interested in learning more about the reasons why you are leaving. Your feedback is important to us.”

You can’t make this sh– up. 😂

I’m open to suggestions on how to complete the survey.

I too have been surplussed and received the survey. I'm relieved to be out. This place was giving me anxiety.

Seems like another way to get you to document your departure. If you choose anything other than the involuntary surplus it can be used against someone if they apply for unemployment benefits or sue if they have a grievance.

I don't remember exactly about that Exit Interview thing, I know I did it and I'm pretty sure I wrote about the "Workforce 2020" thing seemed like a ruse because there was never any guidance or direction to it just "take training path(s) - which I did, and besides the training plans I completed, I was so "silo'd" it wasn't like we were able to transfer out to another team easily (I had tried twice).

Then I may have mentioned the other ruse about the whole "collaboration zone" where I had been a permanent telecommuter for 6 yrs, with no problems with my work, or contact, from my manager, team, NOC or others...All of a sudden McElfresh says "You're too far away, buh-bye". Of course I kept things professional and cordial, you never know if something will come back to haunt you.

Got some news for you. When you attempt to complete the survey, it will ask you why you are leaving. There are four available selections. As soon as you click on "Surplus", the survey will end and direct you to a "Thank you for your feedback". Despite the fact that it never provided you an opportunity to comment. This whole organization is a laughable joke. Senior Management and HR don't want your opinions. If you were surplused you are dead to them. Just move along... There is a reason that the rear view mirror is much smaller than your windshield. Focus on what is in front of you; not what you already passed.

To the OP, it’s great to leave if you have been worn down by the craziness of ATT. I’m the first reply to this post. It’s disgusting that the Survey answers were multiple choice pre selected answers. Typical that the hierarchy chooses not to face the truth. Be well stay safe good luck in your next endeavors.

I have found that the best way to aggravate management through these NPS surveys is to completely ignore them. Although we all want to hammer them with low ratings and negative comments, the best revenge is to not do them at all. For some reason, no participation at all is considered worse than negative ratings.

@gkr: I’m amazed on how lazy you are that you have to shorten ‘You’re’ to ‘U’. A whopping 5 more characters. Stop wasting ‘Your’ time with your gibberish.

OP here. Thanks for the suggestions. I opened the survey and the first question asked for my ATTUID. The second question asked my reason for leaving:

  1. I am retiring.
  2. I have Voluntarily resigned my position at AT&T.
  3. I am leaving under a Management voluntary surplus order (MVO).
  4. I am leaving under an involuntary surplus order.

I selected #4. The survey ended with no opportunity for feedback. 😂

"Why bother wasting the electrons for these idi0ts? They don't care and it is a waste of your time"

Maybe. And maybe no one will even read it. But if it makes you feel better, even for a minute, why not?

Same with eNPS. I too heard it's coming in August. Those absolutely DO get read. Re: your UID... for you folks overcome with paranoia that they will target you because you put negative comments in an eNPS... I have been here 20+ years in L2 and L3 roles. I have never seen UID's correlated to comments (though knowing my team, I can pretty easily guess who made what comment, UID's aside).

I have never been asked by an L3, L4, or higher who it was on my team made a particularly negative or otherwise scathing comment. Not one time.

Some of you don't have the ability to express your thoughts well enough to do a good job writing a scathing, yet still professional, comment on eNPS. But a lot of you do. And if it makes you feel better, you should do it. Because these horrible eNPS's do go up leaderships collective butts sideways.

Even if the end result is just some more mandatory training for us, you know, to let us know that we are the problem. What was that horribly planned out mandatory indoctrination training that was rolled out as a response to negative eNPS last time? You know, the one no one has ever heard of again? "Ignite" or something like that?

I am in ATO Mobility; our 4th level shared that eNPS is coming in August.

And they thought the last one was bad.

If you feel better about speaking up, do it. They can't fire you now.

I heard there WILL be an employee survey this year, don’t know when, but was told by a reliable source.

Upper management was SHOCKED when the 2019 employee engagement survey came back with seriously negative results that the rank and file distrusts them and that morale was in the toilet over the constant uncertainty of still having a job in 3 months. (That they were shocked says a LOT about upper management.) Their solution to the problem - There's been no employee engagement survey this year.

So yes - Be truthful and tell them what you really think. Just don't expect that anyone will be self aware enough to listen and "get" it.

I'm still at AT&T but am retiring very soon and will be totally honest and brutal on the way out the door. Not because I think it's going to make a difference, but because not speaking up about how badly people have been and are being treated when given a chance would bug me for the rest of my life.

Answer it honestly if it’s not multiple choice answers.

  1. ) The Audacity to have an exit survey.
  2. ) The Company has done an exceptional job in lowering Company morale.
  3. ) Running the Company while hanging Surplus/Lay-offs over the employee’s year after year is cruel.
  4. ) Acquiring Companies at a high buy rate and not utilizing them is poor judgement
  5. ) Glad I’m leaving... a big F YOU, kick rocks and die
  6. ) Mike Drop.
