Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Eric Brandt- New Claims Officer

Former Esurance people. What do you guys think of Eric Brandt.

From what I’ve heard he is someone that really does care about his employees and others.

Eric got to this senior executive position by working hard and being an expert. You can’t argue with that.

These are exciting times was the WORST thing he could have said

We think he is the bigger winner in this transformative growth.

Toughest beast in this forest fight, but only forest fight.

"no bs type", I think you've been drinking too much Kool-Aid or maybe at an office not in Ca. He opened his waste of time roadshows to questions when he came to our office, which was rumored to be closing soon based on similar transformative growth plan ESU had but called something else I can't remember. He ducked and dived as many questions as possible related to what, when, if our office closed. Plus Esurance planted higher up managers in the meetings where they knew tough questions would be asked to put pressure on us to keep our mouths shut. A few fearless ones got through though and he got put on the spot and finally couldn't hide behind a pre-recorded video.

The fake smile and “these are exciting times” should give you a clue. Mini-man has always been a rude, arrogant jerk. He only looks out for himself and is a koolaid peddling wolf. Make sure you laugh at his c-appy jokes and kiss his a_s, to keep floating at the top with the other dead fish!

He’s smart, no bs type, We had “roadshows” where he & other execs travelled to tell us about plans for future - he was nice & sometimes funny. Restructured whole claims department, changed processes. Big on things that “add value”, not into layers/processes that don’t, always watching expense $. He cares the way you’d expect a big corporate guy to care- make sure workers have tools and get rid of roadblocks to get job done so bottom line gets better. From what I hear, Esurance & Allstate handle claims different. He’s gonna want to save $ spent on getting claims settled and that’s gonna mean changes in how the job gets done, not just layoffs.

Forget about any freebies. I've been with Allstate for decades. There are no perqs anymore. Which, fine. I get paid well enough after so many years. I'm hoping I'm not laid off. To me, this is just business and not Allstate specific. Once you're a publicly traded company, your loyalty is to the shareholders

As well as they handled the work from home transition, they've really bungled the lay off thing.

@1hdh+162zwoiQ I am afraid that you are in for a rude awakening. Your holiday parties and recognition will be a thing of the past. Our holiday luncheon was held in the MCO and we were served the cheapest c-ap that they could purchase. Our Christmas gift was c-appy umbrella.

It doesn’t matter how he was at Esurance. He is force fed the Kool Aid and will do everything he is told by Allstate. That empty update was clear enough to everyone... they know the plan, number of layoffs, what departments, what company (Allstate vs Esurance) ... this is planned months on months in advance and not a wing it decision.

You tell 4000 to 7000 people they are going to be fired In 60 days the work doesn’t get done. Instead stagger the announcements as more and more Esurance policies fall off the books. This way less staff coincides with less policies.

I have to say that prior to all of this Esurance was the best insurance company I have worked for. Alot of enployee recognition. Holiday parties. Free coffee hot choc cereal milk ect.

Hoping that things dont change to much

As of last of last Friday’s call there were too many “moving parts”to know extent of layoffs. Still working on it. But, we need to make the product affordable for all.

Wait until the the claims start coming in and the premium dollar investment income does not cover the high risk claim activity, the next round of upper claim experts brought in will again scale back on the scrum for all these policies. History continues to repeat itself. Smoke and mirrors at its finest. Eric is just the fall guy, he did not come up with all this.

Give the guy a break!!!! If you want to be in more control of your career either work your way up to the highest levels of the corporation, or open your own business.

From what you have heard? From where? From who? And don't say Linkedin because everyone's a kiss up there hoping to look good to advance their career or get a job or hope that Allstate doesn't lay them off.
