Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

CareerPath Joke

Ridiculous they require posts on the job website when they are obviously for someone already. With the 14 day notice given for managers when surplused , any currently available job posted should literally be available. New one on careepath has an open date of 7/20, closes 7/23. Really distasteful.

OP here - I didn’t miss the caveat... I mean trying to get out/move before you end up on the chopping block. Any job on that site , especially now, should be an open job. HR should not require a requisition to be publicly posted if it’s not really available. I know it’s been an issue for years, just even more irritating right now.
Although I suppose since the one I saw was open for literally 2 1/2 days, I should be glad - it’s even more obvious than the ones open for a week and a half.

It's been this way for the last 20+ years I've been with the company, why the shock and surprise now

OP you missed the caveat of the 14 day notice, which said, “you are not eligible to post on any openings, just get out!”
It was made clear if you were surplussed there would be no job for you to go to.

Yes it is a joke, it is created for the naive people who hope to find another position and in reality the position is already assigned to friends of the hiring manager. No chance to beat the system if you are new to this game.

Depending on who you know, they’ll create a job for you. No job posting.

Unless there is an honest requesting Manager in charge of selecting candidates... ...Career Path is a dead end... .... I know I’ve seen it...

I’ve seen jobs posted for an hour then find out they hired their best friend!

There are only two types of jobs on Career Path. One is for jobs that have already been filled and the other is for jobs no one wants.

They have to post even when it is already tagged for someone else.
