Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

BRANDT

How is the id–tic management doing over there at Brandt? I have been gone from this place for sometime now and wanted to see if anything has changed? I was one of the lucky ones that left years ago when the first solid company offered me a position. I have reached out to a few people that I knew over there at 700 Conroe building only to find out ALL of them have been laid off. WOW, looks like this place went after anyone who made a good wage and kept the yes men to stay employed. I thought I may have made the wrong decision at one time for leaving but looks like I did the right thing. You yes men have lost your 401k matching! That means this company is so close to bankruptcy that they feel they cannot survive much longer. With the poor leadership you have in place from the President down to the MFG Manager this place is doomed. This was once a good place to work when I started there but they kept playing the "Kiss my backside" game and if you spoke your mind you would not last long. I am still in O&G so yes I know things are not good but if this company was run better you would not have all the financial issues you now have. Your President is the lowest form of life and if you're thinking he cares anything about you or your family you are wrong. Those who know this place know that everyone hates the President of Brandt, all of his direct reports included. This little man is not liked in any capacity or respected... feared yes but respected not at all. So for all of you yes men that are left kept saying yes, keep agreeing with everything and you should have a job for at least another year. Look on the bright side of things there still maybe money left to cover your severance package.

I can confirm that number 1 has known his number 2 (lol number 2 indeed) since he was a young boy mowing his yard. He started in the Houston location and was being groomed from there. I can also confirm that the MFG boss has stabbed #2 in the back many times to get him placed in timeout... he had to pull two buddies in that were retiring to pull this off but he did it. But time out is just for a time and eventually lawnboy will exact revenge and I hope my contact has not retired by then.

Brandt has not been good since early 2000. It became the buddy Louisiana company! This is when things really started getting bad. Look at who is left and we’re they came from or are from. With the exception of J.C. And of course J.B. Of the Mid-Con. Brandt manufacturing has not been the same since K.W. Took over, they can’t keep up, can’t find good help, and all the good ones end up leaving due to poor management
Seems like the board would finally figure this out and say hey it’s time for a change, bring in new people, let’s get things going again. I remember when things were slow before they were manufacturing other thing besides oilfield equipment. But it’s always been not what you know, who you blow!!! Good luck Brandt hands!

The people on top are the royal family ... like any royal family they expect people to do what they say when they snap their fingers ... forget about working hard, put a lot of moisturizer in your hands and your job will be safe ... like the other post said: “Easy money if you stay out of sight”

A couple years ago Brandt was a good place to work. Good hours and crew. Now it’s just a shell of what it was. I’m not leaving though, easy money to be made just by showing up and staying out of sight

Yep this place s—s. The people that run this are only worried about what they can take home every two weeks and the bonus they may get. No one outside of the upper management team wants to be here or even has pride working here like we use to have. I have never seen the morale so low in any place I have worked. Even the workers that use to hustle every day now walk around with their heads held low and just do what they can always wondering if tomorrow is the day. Why keep so many upper management around? These guys have made plenty of money and even though they only have a few direct reports they still get paid well into 6 figures... for what? You could get rid of two of these guys and keep 10 on the floor working. Everything has now moved to 2800 N. Frazier Rd and no one knows what is going on... no central purchasing, receiving, assembly etc & no coordination between the groups at all. The w—rr running MFG is cooking the books/numbers all the time and everyone knows it. I can't wait until the market picks up and I can start looking for my exit out of here. Let's see some of these guys get out on the floor and do something productive, let's see them sweat a bit and bleed a bit for the cause. They are too good to do that and that's why NONE of us respect them and talk c-ap about them daily. You do not inspire greatness, you do not inspire team work, you do not inspire anything and bring nothing to the organization of any real value. Just because you show up early and stay late watching your youtube videos acting like you are working on spread sheets (You know who you are hairless one)... no one actually thinks you are doing anything at all other than punishing the office chair. Get out there and do something, make us feel like you actually care about this place and the workers on the floor... even if you don't you could make us feel as you do. Be a leader, lead by example do something productive. We all know that you do not care and only have to hang on for a few more years but you are setting the pace for the next chapter here... not looking good for sure.

Brandt is the place to be! Can do as little
As possible during the workday and get away with it. At least that’s how the welders can do it. We have no leadership or direction. Pretty much a free for all.

Where to start. This place is still messed up, still has a piece of c-ap president with all his little minions still there. We have lost some good people with tons of experience in the last 3 months. We still have nothing to offer our customers. We still are treating our workers like c-ap... at least we get to work from home now since Corporate made this r—ded management follow the rules. I sometimes wished they would call me down and give me my papers... but nothing out there right now. For the ones still working here we do as little as possible knowing they do not care about the workers hell they hit most of the old timers just due to age... we will all get old some day. Then they stress how we the workers for NOV must hold ourselves to higher ethical standard.. what b—s—. They need to lead by example instead of just talking about it. In short be glad you are no longer here as this place is just going down fast. And you are correct about our president... he is the worst leader at NOV and needs to retire and let someone who can lead by example and demand respect step in... who? None in our current arsenal for sure.
