Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Windstream is a wonderful company.

The grass is not always greener. Windstream is a wonderful employer whose time is up. I am thankful for all of the years they provided challenging work and thankful for all of the friendships that I made throughout the years.

Look, we all know this is our last hoorah with the company, I wish all of you the best and for the ones like me who are staying until the doors close, yippe kaye aye MFers..

It's a business....eventually they all die...thanks for the memories.

Wonderful company? Seriously? Don’t make excuses for these nasty, greedy executives. You can’t put a flower in an a$$hole and call it a vase!

I left one dumpster fire for this one. I'd still rather be apart of this one. The last one was a nightmare. At least this one doesn't care in a nonchalant, somewhat negligent way. My last one didn't care in malicious, fk you kind of way.

Name one other wonderful company that forced 401k matches in their own stock and then turned around and nullified said stock knowing full well that a large portion of their employee's retirement was also nullified with it? That's mighty generous if you ask me.

To the Streamers still hanging in there you are in for a crude awakening the LR 5 = Mgt including SB (keep swallowing her BS) DONT CARE ABOUT YOU or YOUR FAMILIES. Your just an E number on a page. Thursday is the day and you will meet the HR contract workers brought in special for the layoffs.
Wonderful company HA!

"Windstream is a wonderful company."

When did that happen?

Correction: Windstream (Alltel) 'WAS' a wonderful company. And as soon as Jeff Gardner left, it all started going down the toilet. And the water is circling the drain now.....

Key Word in the comments. While you still have work. That probably won't be for long.

SB is a joke. I was part of the team held by IBM to train our replacements and although we worked for Windstream from anywhere from 5 to 30+ years she treated us as though it was our choice to be laid off. She was part of the team that had the outsourcing planned for months before they screwed everyone in IT. If you trust her you are placing your job at risk. You need to understand that Windstream cares about one thing. UPPER MANAGEMENT getting wealthy. I have said this til I was blue in the face, if you are still there you are most likely going to stay there because you have no motivation to leave. You have seen your co-workers laid off and thrown away like n old rag doll but it won't happen to you until it does.

Here in Twinsburg we just received 500 new tablet computers. The IT Director SB told me her crew won't be going anywhere while they still have work.

In the Concord, NC ILEC area, I haven't run across anybody locally who wasn't giving us their best shot, in spite of all the problems from above.

Thanks and good luck.

I feel the same way. Every time we have went through a merger or acquisition the culture changes. We lose those goto people on your team, the positions get moved to other teams in other states. Some things get lost in the shuffle going from a 500 employee company into 15,000 over the past 20 years. I'm not going to be the person that will reminisce about "back in the day" but things continue to fall through the cracks. Instead of passing the baton to the next person it keeps getting dropped, there really hasn't been good transition at a staff level. I have yet to meet a director and above that has transitioned a team without issue.

The walls are crumbling and our days are numbered, enjoy your summer while you can.
