In past downturns, has NOV attempted to bring select / willing laid off workers back?

In the past......Yes, some managers who had personal favoritism towards few people had brought them back. Some employees who quit, had been re-hired too. These folks were/are always on the radar though, for the next cutback. Fact is, rarely anyone who cut the ties with NOV would never want to come back unless they are desperate and incompetent.

In the future.....heck there is no future for NOV.

Yes they do. It used to be a good deal, because you could negotiate to keep your seniority (401k additional contributions and more vacation time). But now that 401k matching is gone and severance payments are potentially dropping/going away, there’s no real incentive. Go somewhere else, if given the chance... if not come back, get paid, and never stop looking for a new employer.

They are on the verge of bankruptcy, I highly doubt they are making plans to bring anyone back.

Time to move on, many other low/unskilled positions available. Walmart, Target, McDonalds they are all hiring.

Someone I knew in DH was employed 3 times. They were laid off, brought back, laid off, and brought back again. Their PC was like a boomerang IT kept throwing out into the field. I felt bad for them tbh (both the employee and IT).

So yeah they do bring people back, but why the hell would you want you? This company has gone from Fortune 100 to teetering on bankruptcy in a relatively short time, and you know how that's going to turn out. Unless you have a golden parachute, move on.

It’s a lay-off not a furlough. I wouldn’t give NOV management the satisfaction. Life is much better once you move on from NOV!

Why anyone would go back to a company that willingly laid them off is beyond me. If they've done it once, they'll do it again when it benefits them.

Yes, only poor performance employees who couldn't find jobs in months.
