Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Sort of kludgy but you can watch on a Roku if you have a android based phone and turn on screen sharing/mirroring. I believe its called Smart View on the newer Galaxy phones. Older Rokus might not have this option, mine is from 2017 and does. Tons of info on the specific process via Google search but in a nut shell, you update the settings in your Roku to allow Screen Cast, download HBOMAX to your phone from Play store, turn on Smart View on phone, click to allow on Roku and then you can open the app and watch a show. Would I recommend to someone that is not getting HBOMAX for free, heck no. Would I recommend to someone that is getting it free because they subscribe to HBO and cant find anything else to watch, sure. I had been holding off some sort of deal with Roku because quite frankly I dont have room or an extra outlet for any other kind of set top box, it either needs to work on my Roku or my subscription TV box whether that is DTV or the old Uverse service). After downloading to my phone and browsing I was kinda disappointed. A few old turner MGM movies I might watch down the road but as far as HBO produced stuff if it was good I have already seen it. Not a lot that I would want to rewatch.

The launch by Stankey was as expected - a failure. He is not qualified to lead an innovative media company. Failure to have a deal with Roku and Amazon is a disaster as HBO MAX is not outstanding.

I wouldn't pay for it, it doesn't really have much to offer to justify the $15

I did use it to rewatch sopranos but aside from that, not much else other than older shows. They need to have a constant flow of original stuff to even be anywhere competitive. But hey, spending 500 million for friends seemed like a good idea instead of maybe using it to create original content.

Yeah at this point it looks like HBoMax rollout was a big flop.

The marketing geniuses decided to push out a crippled proprietary solution at the height of a pandemic (something tells me this episode will make it I to business textbooks on how not to roll out a service), brilliant leadership ,/s

Looked @ it the first day, watched Ford vs Ferrari. Had to download to my iPhone and use a lightning to hdmi adapter. Ridiculous! That’s when I knew it was going to fail till it shows up on apps for other devices.

Yup, we will see numbers padding with their fake subs. Why does everything that ATT gets its hands on fail?

Just an addition to the original comment, the content of HBOMAX........Nothing worth watching. The library is full of reruns and new shows with actors nobody knows or cares about.

get ready for the PROP number including free access because barely anyone is paying for HBO max, kind of like Direct TV BS. disaster
