Supposedly there’s a random survey for management employees between July 15-21. It is “gathering feedback a random sample of 20,000 employees on their thoughts about working virtually on a long-term basis. And the feedback will be used to help shape the strategy around what the future workplace will look like post-COVID. It asks employees about where they would prefer to work from (office vs virtually), where they would like certain activities such as 1x1s, networking sessions, team meetings to occur (office vs virtually), how the effective they believe they would be if they worked virtually on a permanent basis and their ability to collaborate and feel connected in the virtual environment”.
I didn’t receive one. If you received it, how did you reply?

Yep, received it and sent it back. I think that it is nothing more than the AT&T lightbulb coming on for some of those dimwits in HR, Finance and Facilities, who now realize that property can be dumped to help AT&T to prosperity, like the layoffs. The boat isn't going fast enough, so let's shove some more over the edge.........
I answered with a number of it depends responses. if everyone is working from home I’m all for it. I don’t want to be a remote worker if a core group is in the office. Personal preference after 10 years of that scenario. In that eventuality I preferred 3 days in the office and 2 at home.
Retired 2 years ago (took the volunteer offer). As a formal Part and Full time telecommuter, I would explain how it has worked out for you, that maybe your manager and coworkers are not collocated with you and that there are no cases of needing face to face collaboration locally to perform your job.
Stress the importance of how AT&T can benefit from healthier and more productive workers and can be a leader in telecommuting. Save on real estate needs. Lead the effort to improve our natural environment and save our countries dependency on the need for more fuel (gasoline, etc.).

Based on the fact they're using a 3rd party consulting company, this is probably just a fishing expedition to get some demographic lay of the land, to see how the preference skews..is it Gen z or millenials...in terms of which employers and how senior they are want WFH.
Probably won't affect much. But you never know, just follow the money angle, if it means T will save millions in commercial real estate costs maybe.. if it means closing down expensive sites like the Northern maybe... Who knows.
I am someplace in the middle. I have been having laptop issues and I find it more difficult to get remote support than just going downstairs to the IQ Bar. The IQ bar also provides loaners if a laptop fix is going to take hours. Also there are times I would like to print something (e.g. W2's for my taxes) and my work laptop will not print to my home printer. Beyond a few glitches like that working from home has been fine and has some benefits. I responded this way to the survey.
I got one and replied that it was working well and that my home office setup is better than the office one. Safer for everyone. Not just the because of the virus, but also not being on the road each day.

Yup. Filled it out and explained that I have never met any of my immediate co workers in person in 10 years. Doesn't make a lot of sense to make accommodations for all of us to return to all of our separate offices around the country.
Yes, got one. Replied in the vein that it's working very well. Maybe after 15 years of people saying that the nitwits will listen. But I doubt it.
