I have seen many posts about Legato and IT layoffs while I can see and feel the frustration about that- that's something I think every company would try to do. The real issue with Anthem is that's it's drowning in it's own hierarchy. "Managers" only goal is to make sure your career doesn't develop and they call the shots regarding work opportunities ( not talking about promotions). Then when it's time to layoff people all the old-timers in management basically layoff the only useful employees that most companies would want to develop. They instead outsource to well known consulting firms and basically pay someone 3 times as much to "manage projects" and babysit anthem employees. There are job opportunities in anthem but basically no opportunities to become a manager unless upper management values you as a trusted member of the "Club." Regardless of how incompetent a manager may be, it's basically one of the safest jobs in Anthem.

From an economic and business perspective, offshoring jobs may be less costly, however you are taking money from the US into other countries without any return. Anthem doesn’t sell its insurance overseas, and this offshoring actually becomes a drain on our economy.
BTW, managers jobs are not safe at Anthem. They are frequently some of the first to lose their position, and also serve as a scapegoat for the president of others for any errors.
Legato is a US company in name only just like Cognizant. Legato is a 100% offshore company while Cognizant has over 85% of its staff offshore. Once Anthem created Legato, its US based IT org’s days were numbered.
I hate Legato. This is a US company and all jobs should stay within the US period. Working with their times zones ins bllsht.
