Probably 12.5%.

I concur with @whv+160pPVKi. I was also out of the business in early 2019. It sure felt like half was taken out. And only the required taxes were taken, NO 401K, etc., so you didn't get the deductions/savings from that.

Your withholding or tax bracket is not taken into account. Taxed as special payment approximately 42%

When I got termination pay after a surplus, it was the same amount as a regular check. I believe I got 24 weeks termination pay and got a check a week for 6 months. I assume it’s different for lump sum payments.

Left the business in the beginning of 2019, only 6 weeks into the new year so not much income earned. My severance was $97k, I only pulled $47k on my check. It can be a big bite size don’t be too disappointed when you see it.

How much are you making if you are worried about the 137k SS limit? My god, no wonder why this company is laying off left and right.

About 32%. If it turns out to be too much after deductions when you get you taxes done next year, you’ll get some of it back. Also no social security tax (6.2%) after you reach $137,700 gross income minus medical. The closer you are to end of year, the greater the chance severance will take you over that limit.

My coworker just retired. Out of $83K, his financial guy says he can expect about $58K.

@owr+160pPVKi Tax withholdings are NOT a question for AT&T or this forum. If you don’t know your tax rate perhaps you should do some independent research.

@wdw+160pPVKi Grow up. People come here looking for an understanding of things HR has screwed up. If someone has been through this with this company and can share their experience it can help others.
