HR in this company has always been a management tool , never any help to employees when it involved management issue (management 99% employee 1%) :(

HR definitely has corporate interests at heart not the employee's. There are a few good people there but I have encountered several over the years with an "why are you bothering me" attitude.
I had a zip code change for my town which had previously shared a zip with a neighboring town. This was considered a "life change event" by the system. When I updated my profile I started receiving messages that my benefits weren't confirmed. I'd call and be assured that everything was ok and then a few days later get another notice. This went on for 3 months. One day I was contacted and told a fix had been made and that they would know for sure "if I didn't receive a notice tomorrow". I was dumbfounded. As a guy who's wrote some code over the years I thought this was a hell of a way to test a production fix.

I have seen people report things, then get laid off. Also they hire their own weird kids. So, yes.
