Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

PTO is factored into your overall COMPENSATION but WILL NOT BE PAID if let go!

Your PTO is assigned a dollar amount which is included in your overall salary. YOU not ALLSTATE pay for these days but if “laid” off you WILL NOT be paid for any unused days. You will be paid 2 weeks for every completed calendar year from date of hire. USE your PTO you are paying for NOW!!!!!

“It’s still 2 weeks for every year with max of 52 weeks.”

Thank you! That’s what I thought...

I second this to see if anyone else can confirm.

"Where did you hear this? How recently was this change made? Can anyone confirm?

“They recently changed severance from 2 weeks per year of service to 1.“"

They in good faith give you all the PTO days in advance on January 1. They really are earned over the 12 mo the worked. You can’t realistically expect to be let go or quit July 1 for example and be owed unearned PTO. You will be paid any unused PTO from January 1 to your last date with the company that you earned.

If you take all your PTO In your. SNL for the year now, they will hold back the money for those days that were in your bank but you had not earned yet.

Employment rights in the US seem to be absolutely horrific. Over here in UK. We get by law 28 days paid holidays a year right out of the gate. Then accrue extra ones for number of years service. Think I’m on 34 days now. There’s also a c-ap load of protections for us. We don’t sign anything bar a basic employment contract. No arbitration stuff etc because it’s illegal. We get full paid sick leave. We can’t just be fired. The process of removing an employee is all in the employees favour.

These layoffs are going to affect ANI as well though. But it sounds like America in general needs to do something about its employee rights. Worst thing is, UK isn’t even the best when it comes to this stuff there are many other European countries that offer even more by law.

You are legally required to be paid for any earned and unused PTO. No question. It's the law.

You accrue a fraction of PTO a month hence the 2 weeks per calendar year. JC if your manager took care of you that’s the exception not the rule. If you don’t think Allstate isn’t here posting the positives vs. reality you’re fooling yourself. This is my AOR do what you will with the information, your choice.

I think the confusion may be accrued vs allotted. I assume you would only be paid accrued unused PTO.

I just left Allstate 4 weeks ago, I used no PTO this year, on my last check I was paid for all my earned PTO for 2020. Great benefits, they took care of me for 21 years.

That is not correct- you will be paid for any unused earned PTO.
