Its time to give our unions the boot. We all need to form one union for all crafts . We would have more bargaining power. Our unions are in the back pocket of squire and his cronies. This is the only way to solve this. We can still have divisions for the different crafts. Don't be afraid to strike, when the government tries to force you to work we can walk. The country can't do without us. You have to call there bluff.

The problem isn't just the unions, I agree they are crooks. Why is the trades union and a transportation union merged... Doesn't seem right. But the problem is us. We run home and post pictures of or hurt feelings report online and cry for the good ole days, (when 90%+ of us hadn't worked) well nothing will change unless we change it. Everyone of you are too complacent with you life, the money, the new 75k trucks every 2 years building new houses, all the toys we like to buy, and supporting the families that should be shorting themselves. Well guess what I'm sick of it, quit crying for someone else to fix our problems. We should be flipping over company officials vehicles. You want the good ole days you'll have to get dirty. Roll your sleeves up stop being a societal zombie. Every single one of us is too blame for this. They turned the tides of intimidation and fear of losing our jobs on us. We will never get it back through the legal systems. Only when we rise up and take back power for our selves will see see real meaningful changes. Until then keep eating you c—meat sandwiches feed to you by your masters.
Its a sign of the times . You youngsters dont remember , but time was when the unions had your back and the union officers had a backbone. Im just glad I dont have much more time left to deal with the "new" class of union guys who only do it for some paid time away from the job. Theres a special place in hell for you geeks
When I started health care cost zero ... Promised by the carriers without significant pay raises we paid zero ... Cost of living adjustments COLA and meager wage increases to off set the cost of health care . Today we pay for health care and receive a small percent wage increase ... In the other union trades they have a base scale . The railroad is riddled with local agreements within the class 1’s depending on the carrier . Example a union electrician on the RR don’t come close to IBEW scale ..Loco.Engineers can’t touch a Operating Engineers pay scale ... I have been through six union contracts and each were progressively worse You can only vote for your Local chairman/ Vice Local ? The top tier guys do not want to go back in the crafts . Regional meetings in New Orleans , Golf Trips and Union Backed Lawyers to Comp your night on the town ... So ask yourself if you can vote for the president of the United States ? Why can’t you vote for the men in charge of your livelihood ?
TWU totally worthless union.
I went from the BLET to the US steelworkers union and I gotta tell you, USW makes the BLET look like a bunch of sissy’s. These guys get things done. Railroad unions are next to worthless
We all know they are worthless , we could just hire a lawyer to draw up a contract and get the same thing , the only difference would be , you only pay the lawyer once
a lot of railroaders wouldn't make it at a non-union job...they'd actually have to pull their weight...especially them lazy pipefitters
"Our unions s—"
Then quit, go find a non union job ya damn crybaby !
Maybe if transportation was in their own separate bargaining from the mechanical side. Otherwise mechanical will get kicked in the face for the next 2 contracts just so they dont make 1 man crews.
All the hourly work is going to contractors. They are only hiring supervisors. They can’t get anybody from outside apply so they promote SGLs. It’s happening before your eyes.
That One Union was called the UTU. It sold the Brakeman and Flagman jobs and agreed to operate trains with two man crews. It also hurt engineers when it agreed to operate remote
A salary work force wont need a union, cant you see what is happening, when was the last time salary personal got furloughed? The company will be all salary before to much longer,no more bargaining, lower pay for the remaining workers,no overtime cuts to benefits, less vacation,no bonuses. This is what its coming too.
Yea, your a little late to be starting that talk. Unions are DONE.
You will never ever get your locals or chairman to strike!!!! They are only worried about themselves. The only reason they even blink at us is for dues. One man crews and contract maintenance is the future. It s—s but the whole strike thought should of been in the works right before PSR. Way too late now.
Unions are only as powerful as the politicians they buy.
