Targeted Retirement Offer?

Why not leverage a targeted retirement strategy, where only individuals of a certain age and with designated years of service are offered a package?

Many companies have historically exercised this approach. Since employees in this segment of the workforce typically have short remaining career spans, this approach appears to be a win-win. Moreover, these individuals are usually high earners.

I was a part of an Allstate Rif years ago and have since returned to the company. The severance package was very good at that time.

Companies are not playing the old school ways. Most of the time the company will find a way to pervert the human resource manual by taking items out of context and turning the screws into grey areas. This way they can accuse you of being a disgruntle employee and fire you. Have you always emailed yourself from work, that could be construed as a violation. They turn into a–holes at this point of time and they try to take not give. Your manager is the first to be notified to help identify some way to fire you using any trickery available. Did you follow directions and how do you know that is what they meant.
YOU’RE FIRED!!!!!!! Sound familiar, 5k BOA employees did not decide to goto lunch one day and say lets create fake accounts. Trickery games are going to be played out by the company and what you think is right is not regulated by law because the Labor law has not been updated.

They've done this many times in the past. There's a good chance they'll offer it again.
