Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

We're back (Sorry, formers)

As always, the former disgruntles predicted NOTHING.

Stores are reopening, furloughed employees are coming back.
No decrease in wages.
Vacation & benefits are still provided.
Curbside did well.
Stores look great with the relay.

Maybe next year, or the year after, HAHA.
Don't give up hope, former B&Ners!

I am a furloughed employee. My store hasn't brought any furloughed employees back and has actually hired new people. I was not a disgruntled employee but have become one. What they are doing is wrong

I think they are required to send termination notice. Even though dayforce doesn’t work employee discount does. My guess is either dayforce is being revamped companywide and/or furlough employees been removed until active again. I gather it could take several months to restart again.

Yep, a bunch of us are terminated without communication. Locked out of Dayforce. I expected better from this company. My bad.

Read these !
THIS is what BN is about !
The original poster here is the one spreading misinformation and BN propaganda. This is ANOTHER mass firing, with the “virus” as an excuse.

Everyone at my store who didnt make the core team is now off the schedule completely. now info on what ahpoened to them. We are expected to run a two floor store with ten total people, rotating. i honestly think this is what the company wants and anyone thinking we're going back to pre covid employment levels is delusional. If you were furloughed find something better. BN doesnt care about you, me or anyone else.

I was furloughed in March. Asked to voluntarily come back during the closing to reset the store (rearrange the store). Went in for one day and only half the people were wearing masks. I opted out and went back on furlough. VERY glad I did. They have now locked quite a few of us out of Dayforce, - terminated? No phone call, nothing. Not even a - thanks for being an employee, and we hope you reapply later when we're busy. LITERALLY, NO COMMUNICATION.

This is the point I stop supporting them. I will drive an hour to shop another bookstore, or I will go to Amazon. I"m over Barnes and Noble. As the saying goes - people don't leave companies, they leave c-appy managers.

Sounds like the lackey ( as another poster called the author of this thread) is the one spreading false information.
I’ll bet this is happening to a lot more . In our store 3 “furloughed “ booksellers are not returning. 3 times 600plus stores=at least 1800 have been FIRED. Will relay this to business websites to get the real story out.

WE’RE BACK !?
Well I’m not. Full timer. Called this morning.
We’re open ? No one called me.
We won’t be calling you back.
When was someone going to let me know ?!
Obviously they weren’t !
Now, I’m a “FORMER”
You wonder why formers stay angry ? Obviously because of the way they’re treated like they don’t matter and never did.

What is going on in TN for you to think that, unless all DM's go to the same boot licker school? But the DM is from AZ
He’s a LIAR and makes side deals for himself.

Not entirely true.
I was furloughed; part of the management team for 10 years. My store opens Monday, I was not asked to return.
I am locked out of dayforce, and my ordering accounts.
As of now, I have not received a phone call, nor any form of communication.

So there you have the truth !
I agree with previous post that the OP is a lackey regurgitating company rhetoric who hates that all the “formers”, as he refers to them, just didn’t shut up and go away when they were fired.
Well, they’re still firing employees. Only now, their the ones they strung along ( all the time lying to) as “furloughed” wow, now you’ll have more “formers” to hate , after the way you lied and treated them. Corporate at its finest!

Last time I checked, the DM for my state is a male, and a huge boot licker. The regional VP never returned my calls either.
I’m guessing TENNESSEE?

The original poster of this is obviously a lackey of the company. So upset that the “formers” didn’t quietly go away when they were FIRED. Maybe he/she has twinges if guilt over LYING to the career employees that their positions were safe.
They’ve lost so much business, they will never be the same.
Customers and employees won’t be loyal to a store if they’re not loyal to them.

The stores look exactly the same. Same company, same boring selection of books at every store in the district. Just because they are open now does not mean they will go out of business later.

The OP sounds like the DM I talked to on the phone. Overly hopeful about a sh–ty situation, and clearly lying. Pathetic.

Yeah, we reopened today & it was decent business.
It went by seniority, for those asked back first, which was cool.
Looks like if Covid stays at bay, we can have a great Summer.
