Select 2011-15 Ford and Lincoln vehicles for a door latch issue

Affected vehicles may not have had all door latches replaced or correctly replaced when repaired by dealerships under safety recalls 15S16 or 16S30. Safety recalls 15S16 and 16S30 were issued to replace door latches with latch pawl spring tabs that were susceptible to cracking and failure in areas with high thermal loads (i.e., a combination of outdoor air temperature and solar radiation).

This action affects approximately 2.15 million vehicles in the United States and federal territories.

Select 2014-17 Ford F-150 vehicles equipped with 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine

In affected vehicles, the brake master cylinder may allow brake fluid to leak from the brake master cylinder front-wheel circuit into the brake booster.

This action affects 292,311 vehicles in the United States and federal territories, 43,536 in Canada and 8,053 in Mexico.

Never time to do it right, always time to do it over.

I hope this is not related too TVM?

Another Engineering disaster (door latches not new). Communication with the dealers on fix, big blunder. Damage to the customer; priceless. Who owns this? Oh, were Ford, best and brightest.

The company said Wednesday the previous door latch recalls were done because of defective pawl spring tabs that could crack and fail in high temperatures. Usually the doors won’t close if there’s a failure, but if they do close, they could open again while the vehicles are in motion. The previously recalled vehicles may not have had the latches replaced, or repairs may not have been done correctly, the company said in a statement.

What's brilliant is we had two safety recalls (in 2015 and 2016 according to the reference numbers, or they may have been taking place in the subsequent years but at least they were initiated during these two years) and yet the problem still exists. What an efficient (and cost-effective surely) way of addressing safety problems!
