Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Will layoffs continue?

Centene laid off 80 people last week in the Florida offices. Managers, supervisors and regular staff, some with over a decade of tenure. No reason given besides economic impact of covid.

Does anybody know if there are plans for more layoffs in other locations?

I disagree with the person who said it is hard to fire people at Centene. Several layoffs in my area, all older women, after purchasing Wellcare. All were at the higher end of the pay scale, good workers, and leads. Huge loss.

I don’t think the reason in Fl was covid only. They bought WellCare and there were redundancies in the positions. It is very hard to fire some one at Centene particularly Florida I think they used this opportunity between covid and acquiring another company to get rid of people who they wanted to but could not.

That’s interesting because 30+ employees who’s position’s were eliminated/severed in Oregon and Washington offices were told the exact opposite.
