Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Yeah, I’m bitter.

So I got laid off. I was expecting it when it happened because my workload went down drastically. The part that stings the most was the person who laid me off was such a horrible human being. I loved most of my time with the company.

Being cut by someone who was openly s-xist, racist, conniving, and just plain ugly feels like a burning dagger. How do these people make it through? I genuinely do not understand.

Sounds like we were both let go by the same manager! (lol) I can only sympathize with those former, fellow employees that are feeling pretty much the same way I am. I only worked for them because I needed a job at that particular time (plus the last downturn in 2015 didn't give me much of a choice either). I am not going to go into any stats, figures, and or economic jargon with this post. Just going to mention the human element of my experience with SLB.

I gotta admit, I was pretty naive as to walking into such a close-knit, toxic workplace environment when I first started. All in all, it wasn't a positive experience in that respect; I just tried to mind my own business and do my job, while navigating the treacherous waters. I interacted with ALL kinds of personalities and social extremes, which is the reason as to why I tended to keep to myself as much as possible. Learned along the way about the "Buddy System" and cliques in the shop, (yeah, just like in high school). I thought that I wouldn't encounter anything even remote that this day in age, as rampant and status quo. I was a pretty easy target because that riff-raff knew that I was my own person and didn't go along with the rumor mill. They tirelessly tried to get whatever gossip or other petty, useless tidbits of information I may have heard, but I would always clam up. This drove them crazy to no end.

I knew that my days were numbered, long before I was to be let go, but the only thing that kept me there was the pay. In hindsight, I would've left, wait, better yet....have not bothered with that company at all, to begin with. Wish those that can relate to my post, all I can say is lots of luck with the ongoing job search and if you have already found something, just be sure to learn from your experience from this "world class" company.

I'm sorry about what all happened to you. I worked for SLB here in SL for about 2 years and I saw most of what you are talking about. Managers promoted into positions based on whose a– they kissed and nothing to do with the knowledge they would bring into a department.

Meaningless Quest certifications and a broken SAP system putting tremendous amounts of stress on employees. Honestly, I take solace in the fact that I know the person that called me to lay me off got laid off as well last week.

Enjoy your time off, spend time with your family, and lastly use this time to freshen up your resume and on to better companies that may actually care about their employees.

Also, make sure you apply for that unemployment and check it under pandemic related. I wish you the best!!!

Your main loyalty is to you and your family, now you’ve learned that lesson. Move on, and hopefully you’ve learned something transferable after all of those indoctrination years.

Next time you run into a Champion, remember, they will take your contributions, making them theirs behind your back. Their turn is coming.

Good luck

Anyone seen the end of the movie Titanic when 100’s of drowning people are frantically splashing in the cold water as they try to climb on top of others and push them under to save themselves?

That’s what you SchlumberTurd’s remind me of, you’re all going under eventually, it’s just a matter of time. Climbing on top of another drowning soul who’s trying to keep his head above water for his last breath only buys you a few extra moments before you meet the same fate.

Scumbooger indoctrinates you boons to think you are good, above all others but sadly only the Scumbots within the organization believe this because they have no experience in the outside world. Once you are released by SchlumberDump and try to get a job in the real world, you’re going to realize that listing Scumbooger on your resume is a death sentence.

“We are Schlumberger !!!” Ahahahahahaaa !!!

How’s your blue popsicle??? Mmmmmm good !!!

Now learn your new chant ScumberBots “We are Taco Bell” !!! Now get them toilets clean

It is stupid that you expected fairness when working for Schlumberger. You should be bitter with yourself for choosing Schlumberger

There are many managers in the company who are not qualified. These are people who did not earn their management jobs by rising through the ranks but were given their jobs and are clueless about what they are supposed to be managing. Lacking real skills and knowledge they survive by conniving and a– kissing their bosses often at the expense of their reports. Because of this way of promoting managers Schlumberger is one of the worst managed businesses in the workd and the performance over the past 15 years is a result.

I understand how you feel, the bias in Little Rock was really bad in certain departments.

Unfortunately there are lots of people like that in Dumberger. I have worked for some and with many incompetent people who I don’t have a clue how they were hired. Well, yes I do, they were framily of current mo–ns...
Most of the time it seems like you’re at a circus and the entire cast of the circus quit so they randomly chose people from the audience to impromptu fill the spots...

I feel for you but when you work for a garbage dump, they typically treat you like garbage. This company has the worst reputation in the US, not only with employees but clients as well. When you’re out in the field you see every other service company except Schlumberger, it’s because nobody wants them.
