Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

DXC Germany takes aways the cars without compensations with a dirty trick.

DXC has another trick up its sleeve to pester away the employees.
Firts they change your employee status/profile to one without a car benefit then demand employees give up their cars telling them you are not entitled to a car anyway

If cars are part of your package and considered as a benefit ( as its very common in some countries) you just can not change it without consent or its a breach of contract.
Avoiding this by changing an employees profile and then announcing you are not entitled to a car any more is illegal and affected employees should get legal advise on the matter.

There has been a rolling programme since before DXC ( certainly in HPE times ) and then into DXC to abolish the company car scheme. The scheme has been under review worldwide for the last 2 years. You had different rights under your legacy terms and if a DXC hire , in new DXC terms. They didn't 'axe' allowances. DXC had new terms and conditions for employees hired post the merger. Different countries around the world also had different terms.

In Europe announcements were made about UK&I well over a year ago and other countries in EU were still under review. UK&I when your lease car expired you handed the car back , or you could purchase, and then you moved back to the car allowance. This was actually quite generous as they didn't really have to do this but if they didn't they may have had a legal challenge on their hands over 'grandfather' rights.

I know I was really happy to finally hand my car back as it was costing me to keep the car especially as travel was restricted for the last 2 years. I went from driving around 20,000 miles a year on business to less that a couple of thousand.

I do know many people in Germany who have cars and the nature of the business, especially in client facing sales roles, they still do considerable amounts of miles driving around the country. Under EU law even if DXC move you into a new role it will be really difficult for them to take the car away from you if you have had the car entitlement for year. I suspect they will do what they didn in the UK&I and cash compensate to get around this. Also I know people in France, Belgium, Switzerland who drive across country borders as it is more convenient than public transport.

Save dxc, save the planet, be green. Take public transit or ride a bicycle to work. That way you keep healthy and you can keep the environment healthy and dxc healthy. It is a win-win-win situation.

in some countries company car is considered standard in IT companies. Take cars away in these countries, and literally everyone would leave in few months.

@1pxs+15g38A9P - Someone having a benefit that you don't have... doesn't mean they are spoilt.... realize that you have scr!!!d for a long time and the other has managed to survive, because of better company and govt policies
Think.... Does losing the car benefit in Germany equalize them with your situation, and improve your life/lifestyle ? Or you getting better compensation and benefits make your life better

If you can't stand up to the corporate, so be it ... but don't jump on those who can and have. Should we compare you with the homeless and say you shouldn't have a home and be on the streets too !!!

Car benefit? You all are spoiled. In the US we get nothing , no car benefit, no cell phone, no paid internet, no office supplies. STOP complaining you have a job, and IF YOU don't like it leave!

Turns out they can though @1nnz - if not the post is pointless, and you have nothing to fear.

Days of Corona, with no customer interaction. You are working in basement. Why would you need a car ? To go from basement to your bedroom ?

Dxc UK axed anyone new hired getting car allowance then axed anyone actually having a car. If you had one they even made you give it back immediately, not letting it run to the end of the lease.

Before anyone shouts about how they didn't get a car... You weren't given it (in the UK) you had to pay for it with your flex. As time went on the company took the p1ss and charged you more and more (on top of what the lease company charged) plus the tax man battered you. Between them it became stupid to select it but people still did.

Anyway, sorry kameraden, we feel your pain.

That's been standard practice for years, review cars, if you don't need one or qualify for one; you lose it.
