Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Anyone else feel like "criminal?"

I always worked hard the company, yet I feel like I've done something wrong to Gulfstream.

The way they called May 1st to say I'm laid off, and I couldn't even finish up my meetings for the day. They immediately locked me out of my laptop and phone, and said I had no chance to retrieve anything in my L drive or from my phone.

They were organized to get their assets back, but I can't even go into the office to retrieve my things. An entirely different company is giving me my things I had at my desk. Why couldn't they have done similar to previous lay offs and I get my own things? I'm embarrassed a Gulfstream coworker (we all know managers dumped it to someone) went through my desk and personal things. There's a locker they'll have to bolt cut to boot bc they wouldn't let me on the property to put in my lock combo to open it.

I didn't do anything wrong to Gulfstream. I don't deserve to be treated like a criminal.

I'm sorry if anyone else feels the same way.

No security clearance was required for Job I have at Lockheed, Marietta, production. There is a filter in the site.

@Guy hired at LM in Marietta - do you need (or do you have) a security clearance?

They started treating people this way at about the 2002 lay-off (when discrimination law suit was filed).

I was laid off in1992 and it was nothing like how they did after GD bought GAC.

It’s all about the numbers.

Lockheed in Marietta (supports defense) is hiring. Remember to mention all SAP & Solumina experience. I did 25 years at GAC, and accepted a position with LM.. They moved swiftly and efficiently to include the relocation.

I’m getting a little depressed. Been 1 month and no job in sight. Not easy. I remember when my GAC VP told us “you are in the safest place in GAC”. I am sure he didn’t lie. Best of his knowledge. Yet 25% of our department got axed. F*cking company. I gave so much dedication and work, and they k–led us like pork that maybe had the swine flu. Shame on you!!!

To the guy who “got out of Dodge” when they let awesome people like S—-n— go, think I know who you are because I remember you leaving with your stuff even though you survived the blood letting last year. Hope all is well! You made the right choice. I also remember you saying you felt like the rat deserting the sinking ship when you moved on. You were right about the ship sinking, but no one left thinks you are a rat. It’s like a funeral around here with lots of empty space for social distancing with all the people canned. Shoot me an email or find me on LinkedIn. and let’s connect for a beer next time I’m down your way. I’m using the same one. Cheers!

When I saw the caliber people let go last fall, I cleared out my office the next day of resources and valuables I didn’t want to lose, tuned up my resume and got out of dodge. S—s for you if you didn’t do the same. Takes a while to recover from the PTSD, but it’s such a load off to be out of that toxic environment.

I feel the same. I have been on this website for years, and seen 4 layoffs... I notice there are a lot more anger and messages this year. I think everything there has been absolutely no sh– given to us. Hell, they had to send an email about unemployment when they got many emails about people not getting their paycheck. How hard is it to send an email to people "You will have to make a new claim". The only time they communicate, it's to ask for things from us. The Gulfstream Family.

I felt embarrassed and ashamed. I was ashamed of Gulfstream, and somewhat, of myself. Like previously stated- aviation is a small world.

FYI, those of us laid off in October were not allowed to pack our things either. These dehumanizing policies are courtesy of the head narcissist in HR.

Agree 100%. Why couldn’t they have treated us like the highly-skilled professionals we are? Don’t we deserve the same respect and dignity they would like to have from us as we move on to suppliers and competitors in this VERY close knit aerospace community?
