In my entire 15 y career at slb I have never seen people working hard, extra hours. I saw a bunch of schlumbots playing the rat race game. I was mostly in tech and research centers.
I hope young talents get this ship back on track.

Makes sense, you’d have seen SLB people working hard if you’d actually been to the well site, but as you say you were in tech and research. Ever stopped to think you might have been part of the problem?
We're trying.
After the way the industry has gone, don't expect young people to put the company back on track. As a "young-ish" tech person who was laid off after a few years, I've decided to pursue opportunities outside O&G. I also encourage friends still in school to avoid the industry (at this point, they don't need that encouragement). Young people may still work in O&G, but due to decreasing salaries and vanishing job stability, they will be low-paid, desperate students/H1Bs, or L1 contributors to "offshoring" jobs - which seems to have been an increasing trend for as long as I've been working. I'm sad to see the way the industry has gone. But hey, at least I didn't have to "train" a/my replacement to qualify for severance.
They're laying off a ton of young people everywhere in all sectors. I don't think young people will save this company, if I'm being honest.
Dead on correct. I have followed this company for years. A pure case of missmanagment. Unlimited overtime constantly while over charging the customer. Total lack of structure. Yeah the truth hurts.
Make sure to apply for unemployment immediately and be glad you were let go now while they are giving out severances. Also, spend time with your family during these trying times.
Hopefully things get better and good luck to you.
Ahahahahahaa !!!
