It was always bad but now it has reached an unbearable level. What, is it too expensive to pay us unemployment and/or severance so they are determined to make us leave on our own? Is that the final goal here?
Well let me tell you, I am not leaving without a fight. If you want to get rid of me, then pay me what I am worth and owed! Otherwise, I will stick it out AND document everything in case of a lawsuit.
@cbya This company will forge your signature on their forced arbitration document which they conveniently hide from everyone until there’s a legal threat, and then they’ll miraculously produce it in attempt to deter employees and their attorneys from moving forward. They did it to my friend in 2021 and that’s when I knew how shady they really are.

I just found this site. Currently it's March 2025 and UHC is playing their games with us. We have had the VRSP to try and get people to quit and for them to avoid paying out unemployment benefits. Not sure if enough took the VRSP. In my area we have so much work that your brain just stops after a while. Then on top of that they have us doing call center work this is another tactic to get us to quit. It's so bad it is not our fault what happened to BT it was awful I agree but we didn't cause it. Pay the claims all these call center calls are about claims that ARE NOT PAID and there is no logical reason why they are not paid in most cases. I could go on forever. This company makes me sick.
Hello everyone! The bullying is extremely out of control where I work. It’s unfair that this individual gets away with talking to families, co-workers and even the admin lead and practice manager. I go to the practice manager at least 3 times a week to report these occurrences and nothing is resolved ever. I’m so frustrated and now it’s at the point of where to turn and who to turn to. I found this forum, and it’s basically to complain. Does anyone know the exact number for corporate Human Resources. I’ve had it. And am at my wits end.
Bullying is also known as "managing you out." They want you to quit. Someone mentioned they weren't given any work. That happened to me also, and i was basically ignored for a year. Eventually they put me on a CAP for "performance issues" (and had to try reallly hard to get the documentation needed) but eventually they let me go.
You ALL need to get back to work. Stop the complaining about overtime and whether or not you will be laid off. We will be sure and let you know when your number is up. Now get back to work- it’s what we pay to do

I’ve decided that I’m going to turn their bullying into a game... it’s very comical when you make them lose their temper in front of others. I’ve seen it backfire where they were fired on the spot. Karma is beautiful.
You can ALWAYS record conversations. If you feel threatened you can record it. They HR will do nothing.... BUT if it discrimination in ANY way, then you can go straight to the EEOC and file a complaint. Now, you may end up getting really bullied after that BUT at least it will get looked at.
I reported multiple instances of highly illegal and highly unethical behavior and NOTHING happened. I spoke to legal and HR- they have ZERO power. As soon as my supervisor and that monster’s boss found out I reported it, the bullying only got worse and I had no support. I was threatened with being written up and told to find a new job- just like so many of you on here. The retaliation just worsened. Your one and only solution is hiring an attorney. Keep your head down, send out your resume, document everything (like a coworker warned me my first week there) and hire an attorney. They know exactly how far they can push things to their favor without ever being held accountable. They’ve been sued - and have been threatened with lawsuits- so many times. If you have a valid case, you’ll have no problem finding an attorney. I wish I would have tried harder to find a way to record conversations via WebEx- that would have been awesome for the whole world to hear how they treat and speak to their employees. If you know how to do it, please share.
Not sure if anyone saw the LinkedIn post about the gentleman who worked overseas for Optum? I believe in the Philippines? He essentially took to LinkedIn to warn everyone how bad UHG is and how they’ll try to take your pay after giving appropriate notice and turning back in your equipment. They’re certainly making a name for themselves! SO EMBARRASSING!
Has anyone had any luck going to HR or Ethics & Compliance with the bulling? The retaliation is there. They are really good at covering themselves. Who in this company has us little peoples back??

Make sure you file an ethics complaint as well as have a paper trail.
The manager I had was as effective as a potato 🥔 and just let other staff and team members run over me. So when I finally blew , she just continued with more the same worthless ineffective guidance- I just walked out same day.... it was really awful but gratifying at the same time.
I cannot believe the audacity of Management to think they can get away with using “back doors” to illegally monitor employees computers by logging into a Virtual Machine anonymously. Not only is this a violation of the company’s policies it truly shows they have NO INTEGRITY and NO ETHICS! This company really needs a lawsuit brought against them. Karma
I would like to thank all the teams for their hard work. I came back from my long weekend and a lot of work was completed over the weekend. I appreciate those salary folks continuing to work their weekends. Let’s keep it up- it’s what is needed. I will be taking time off this week and weekend but will login periodically to check in. While I agree that employees are being shuffled around with little thought to schedules and personal impact I don’t think it’s a covert plot to get people to quit.
Some areas were slammed and needed help as fast as they could get it (hence the rushed training) other areas had ZERO work for their employees and would have had to lay them off so people were shifted instead of being laid off.
Not minimizing the personal impact to nurses who were suddenly required to work nights and weekends but the alternative was likely a furlough or lay off.

Yes, I agree with you. UHC/Optum has transferred employees to other areas with minimal training and changed employees' times to force them to leave under the disguise of COVID-19. But I will not make it so easy for them. They will need to fire or offer a severance package. Their stocks are doing well due to employees' hard work. And they are outsourcing US jobs so they can increase profit even more.

In what State are you in? In the State of California they have harassment and lgbtq laws. I am saying they have general harassment laws in particular that were passed recently in 2020 I think.
I would check into what laws your state has and if you can complain to a government bureau about this. Each state has different rules however, so that is a problem.
Stick it out if you have the will and fortitude, I did and they had to pay out a 2 weeks notice (though by law they should've notified me of my pending layoff 60 days in advance), a severance, and ALL of my PTO b/c of the employment laws in state I live in. I'm glad I stuck it out for these benefits b/c I was treated poorly the last 7-8 months I worked for optum, given no work or assignments, i definitely felt they were trying to "work me out" of my job. My boss even asked me at one point "why dont you quit"? I was shocked! I loved my job and worked hard under the previous director (who gave me work). I told him "I need my health benefits."

@yyg+15cTU2LW Yes employment is at will. However, if they bully you to make you quit, they don’t have to pay you unemployment. If they do fire you at no fault, or they don’t have much evidence, then they have to pay you unemployment.
Aren't you guys employed 'at will'? Bully or no bully, the company can let anyone go for any reason, without paying them anything, and the employees can also quit at any time, too. It looks like a bad place to be, though, just go ahead and leave already.
Bullying has been a tactic they have been using for years in hopes to get people to leave on their own. It’s disgusting and I also have experienced it. They will use your reviews, giving you low marks and no raise, no bonus, to try to bully you out. Know that management has little choice they are told what to do by leadership.
This is Concerning because I have felt bullied as well. Almost like they want me to quit? Same - I am not leaving and I am documenting everything. I’m a very hard worker for UHC- sadly what you said about being bullied, I think may be true for me as well. Time will tell !!
