Right, staying out of the petty stuff. I've been told repeatedly over the last heaven's knows how many months about NOV Gateshead's closure.

What exactly has happened as looking up NK's and AR's profiles (Engineering), they still say they work at NOV Gateshead?

I've heard:

  1. NOV Gateshead has gone; and
  1. Maufacturing has finished, but a small amount of people have been kept on and moved to a smaller unit.

I left at the end of 2016 with the big wave of redundancies.

Question is because I ran into a lad tonight in my local who worked originally in G184.

GM from Stanley. Does he know any Stanley crew. You bet he does. That’s a Stanley fact.

For anyone not from Stanley lube up.

If you are office based you know the drill, don’t bend for a Stanley friend, bend for your manager. Nothing unusual there.

It’s amazing to watch someone put forward a legitimate idea time and time again. Rejection

Then months or even yrs later in proposed by Stanley or management as their idea.

Leadership, will you for the mother of God listen. It’s like being in the 1980’s. So far behind and playing catch up. Thing is you don’t know how to.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo‘s Nest springs to mind. Where the inmates are in control.

Welcome to NOV Gateshead.

I’m not a train woooo wooooo I’m sane.....

That said I saw something on LinkedIn was an empty pallet suggesting all the product was sold. The irony is it was never there to be sold.

Your empty pallet awaits you. TBH even that would be late.

Dear lord we are really in a mess. Marketing fail. Our customers see this in yrs and continual failure to deliver.

It’s ok. Our product management team will save the day. Like they (him) has done before.

Yes we have a (weak) product manager.

I think shop floor need to get ahold of themselves. You truly don’t give a flying money’s. Just turn f— up and f— off.

It’s obvious with a queue at clock out time. That’s shipyard stuff in the 1980’s

Get a grip. If you care about security of ur job, then take pride in it. With certainty this is not the case.

No wonder ur stuck there, unskilled, aged workforce stuck in their ways. Who can’t move on cos NOV Shop Floor have a reputation for the ability to f— up.

I think you go see a doctor if you hate people for grabbing a coffee..... you sound like a brainwashed brown nose who loves getting told you’re doing a great job

Do you know who I hate? The fat inept lazy button pushers who are always at the coffee machine. I would sack the lot of them.

Unskilled and unqualified a bit like every manager in the place. All you need to be is corrupt and a brown nose and the opportunities are endless

Post ID: @12kxb+15aI2yFw

Lads look....... nobody is forcing you to stay.......the door is open if you want to leave but the fact is the majority of you are unskilled and unqualified and wouldn’t get a job anywhere else so stop wingeing.

Relocation of work is easy when you over price it at gateshead. Numbers are easily subjected to manipulation.

Office staff micro manage? What about the work that sat for two years on the shop floor?
Judging from the amount of take ways these days it's more micro wave than micro manage.

Incompetent someone says?
To be able to make a mistake you have do something to make that mistake.
What did you do or take responsibility for today? Or are you part of the back heeling club.

Incompetent?
Is that because all finished jobs got pulled from stock to be retested? Or was that nowt to do with (Back Heeling Club) Me.

Shocking! Are you trying to shut us down?

The septic tanks. What do they know. Build the build a business by acquisition not on innovation. Always and is failing

If you want the septic tanks to understand then that’s “diaper” not “nappy”
All the rest of your post sounds like normal flowline / wireline standard operating procedure as per “Rogain Hair Club” Director of the year, he really ain’t people smart, thank the Lord.

Every time I go on the shop floor feels like a social club. Hanging around chatting in groups, vending machine in canteen never short of 4 to 6 deep at any one time. It’s Like going to Wetherspoons going to the toilet together.

Then there is goods in. Jesus never in a hurry all chatting chewing the fat. Oooo can’t book that time n we have a backlog. Get off yr Arse and do something. Test it they are all day long there chatting away every time.

Complete taking the mick.

Office staff need to micro manage everything that is manufacturing and operational based. It’s not what we do but what we have to do. What does that say....... your all babies and need your nappy changing.

Keep the tool and machine collisions going. Incompetence

Keep machining out of tolerance. Incompetent

Unable to measure properly on a first off till it’s too late and machined multiple quantities till realisation sets on and the whole batch is sc-apped. Incompetent

All QA issues are reported, be lucky if it’s 1% office related.

The last to go will be staff. First to go will be shop floor, machines moved etc.

Can easily relocate manufacturing or machining within 6months away from Gateshead.

Good luck.

You really have no idea do you? Stick to your meetings, keep saying yes to everything and s— up that corporate ladder thicko. But when this place shuts and it will you’ll be back at elddis on the line where you belong.

Ok. issues from manufacturing are zero.

No breakdowns of old machines, no certs issues, no machining faults, no traceability o through the shop floor Need I go on...

Cant even make a simple union without micro managing.

Your so good at what you doing being underpaid in a sh– company. Move on then. Oh wait that’s either your coasting or pants at your job. The latter i think, that’s why your paid what you get.

Oh dear, nerve well and truly hit there , shop floor are under paid in the industry for what they do ..... that’s why you always have a recruitment problem!!!.... if office staff are that good mallet wouldn’t be focused on fixing all your mistakes and processes , place is top heavy, always was , always will be ..... biggest problem is that all office staff think they are so above the shop floor scum .... hence the lowest morale I’ve ever seen in a work place .....like the previous post highlighted.....
Stamper running shop floor
Labourer running quality
It goes on and on....... the link ....they all from Stanley, the most affordable place to live in the north east haha

Yrr

Let’s get this straight. Yr obviously shop floor. Office staff have had no pay Rise for over 5 yrs. where the floor has had pay Rise year on year. Our bonus is near to nothing compared to your compounded pay Rise per annum. Say 2% per year is 10% your salary. Think your are hard done by. Plus we are salaried that means no overtime payments. Example I worked 50hrs last week. With no additional pAyment. Your more than welcome to apply for an office job, cos it’s a bed of roses. Only in your tiny heads.

Agree with the rest of your post.

I’m 3 yrs time work will be there for us. As the huge stock we have will need to be reworked.

Brilliant strategy.

That’s commonly known as thinking inside the box

Try diversification into other industries. Wait that’s too simple for you guys who have a machine shop idle.

Get ready folks, 4 day week coming and before you ask yes overtime will still be available for supervisors to get there hours in so they don't lose any money. It's about to get real, other groups already hit but hush hush.

Gateshead, Greengate & Kintore closed early 2021. Only people fighting for there precious jobs are directors and managers. Think they have your back, watch how they only cover each other. Shambles but ultimately what do you expect with nepotism within. Start looking for job hunting people, it's on its way.

To @Dqdt+15aI2yFw you can’t put a sentence together or do simple addition. Therefore I deduce you are someone who has a remedial occupation and pay? or you are getting paid to much money and in a position your minuscule IQ would not allow at a normal company.

Totally agree with comment on supervisor working 20 hours plus its disgraceful but he has always done it. And fitting section leader with zero qualifications that's why when test bay breaks down they just turn graph by hand

Agree with last comments as been on the shop floor for years and morale at all times low. How about we look at groups in canteen having a coffee of upto 8 having a snack from the fridge in working hours and nothing is said. Same group of machine lads everyday but you dare go out for a quick vape and warning on its way. Camera in the canteen, use them between 8- 10 and wow. Not just managers taking the place as a free ride.

Basic facts that we have a guy running sales who is desperate to move on to another position even after having several high profile roles at gateshead and failing at them all. Supervisors who have no qualifications other then being in the click, fitting section leader was a labourer who left and went to bel valves and suddenly becomes highly qualified expert with zero qualifications. Welding section leader working 20 plus hours overtime when nothing happing on shop floor but never questioned. Absolutely a mismanagement problem but hide behind otif and improving figures that are all for stock or inter company. 6 months at best as product can be made faster and cheaper in any other locations.
