EM could have offered early retirement packages and hit their target of 10% and probably even more. But they didn’t want to spend the extra money to do it.
Instead corporate instructed their Managers to cut the bottom performers, and most managers already have their layoff list. The managers decided who stays and who goes, and it didn’t matter what your supervisor rated you. They want conformists and not quality workers.
The sad thing about all of this - is next week the managers that made these life altering decisions will go on with their life. They lack compassion & empathy for the lives they just ruined. As long as they are okay and their favorites are okay all is well in their world.
Even if some of the folks let go can work circles around those that got to stay - they don’t care bc they got rid of those they didn’t like based on their personal opinion and not professional opinion.
