They point how how Seagate announced but it never materialized while WD has product in the channel. Stx execs owe the team and investors answers for lying to us all. HAMR is not real/delayed/not ready/too costly to produce and ponytail fooled everyone. Execs need to come clean.

That's pretty much all most of us can do. There were units in customer's hands for testing at the end of last year according to the internal comms and yet we aren't producing them in any quantity yet.
Either A.) They didn't qualify (yet) or B.) They haven't figured out how to manufacture it or C.) It isn't worth the price they need to sell them for. Maybe all the above. Until it ships, we'll never know.

Do any of you actually work on HAMR? Honestly curious because from some comments here is seems like some have never seen or touched one and only hear of it.
It will be Christmas because they told investors 2020 HAMR will be out. It might be one drive but it will be out. I don't understand why a customer would take a chance on HAMR
Even if HAMR is cost effective at the areal densities in three years, are customers really going to want to deal with the reliability risk from heads burning out after multiple writes? Seems to me they'll bite the cost bullet and switch to SSDs
I heard Thanksgiving/Christmas. This will force them to release early with c-appy quality.
They're only a quarter or two behind...
