Parting out Windstream

Will Elliott auction off certain customers segments to highest bidder? Customers must terrified to commit to a company with imminent danger.

Windstream saved lives and jobs thought out the years. More people would have lost their jobs a lot sooner than later if Windstream had not stepped in and merged or brought the loosing carriers. Also over half of The people would have either never worked in Telecom let alone Corporate America because they started with no skills no college degree just The Who you know mentality. It’s a good thing Windstream lasted this long. Times are changing and this company has to change with the times, if not they will end up like Kodak and Blockbuster. Sadden and Thankful.

The FCC destroyed the CLEC model and now costs are going up for consumers. The margins used to be built right in and it was easy money. It used to be you sell 5 T1s or so and then the rest of the T3 is all profit. Now Windstream loses money on every single T3 thats live. I was in a verizon collocation last week and there were 6 carrier lineups, windstream owned 5 of them, all the old CLEC signs still up on the cages and on the labeling. Not a single thing consolidated or integrated. Its embarrassing how we bought all these companies and did absolutely nothing with any of them. There was money to be made but engineering didnt even try. They all work from home in that dept and have never been to a site. They dont even try at their jobs. And now after all the layoffs over the years they dont have the man power or skill set to pull this project off. Elliot will just have to shut it down as stated. Its all tdm with dsl, sonet, T3s with CAC muxes. basically equipment from 1997. No wonder customers can’t get any decent speeds, these paradynes are so old and dusty. Maybe if windstream bought filters so we could change them, i have been here 10yrs begging for filters. The lucent DMX from 2001 still has its original filter.....and the node has never been backed up.

Yep CLEC is dead and WIN were id–ts for buying them. I expect a very quick turndown of all the CLEC equipment. The only 'Enterprise' group that will be left is zoom and velocloud resellers. If you aren't supporting that you will not have a job.

Before someone comes along talking about all the voice traffic CLEC carries. It doesn't matter. The FCC has been sundowning voice rates and it has long been more expensive to keep all those offices up. Pushing voice over CLEC stopped being a cost savings measure 5 years ago if it ever was.

The gears are already in motion. Elliot will have to wait until chapter 11 closes out to sell off any business units.

There are hardly any customers left on those TDM switches. You are going to see alot of Central Offices and collocation sites shutdown quickly. Windstream cannot make any money trying to operate dozens of CLEC networks that are still standing independently from one another and barely serving any customers. The hvac bills alone are higher then the money brought in by the tdm customers. If you work on tdm you will be out of a job very very soon. Nobody is going to be working on POTs lines, T1s and DSL. Elliot is here to shut down the ancient parts of the business and make it profitable so they can sell. This will all be over in the next 24-36 months and a new owner will be in place by then. The CLEC model is dead, windstream was the only company foolish enough to keep buying them. There are no buyers.

I’m not sure how Elliott will do it but they’re definitely in this to make money. Saving Windstream isn’t on their agenda. The corporate HQ might not exist when they get done parting this thing out.

Any customer that signs a new agreement during this process is asking for a death sentence

Selling services is difficult for the sales team. This pandemic has been a saving grace for them with Officesuite. Most of the traditional services we sell have an uncertain future. No need for most of it if everyone is working from home.

Elliot management's business plan is to get the money out. Do a Google search and you will see their track record. This company has been poorly run for years, lots of debt and overheard, even bankruptcy can't save us. When they take over you will see significant changes.

Windstream as we know it has no future, prepare for the new normal.

The only thing delaying any aggressive layoffs are the delays in litigation from 2nd lien holders.

Stay tuned!

So basically more of the same operating complexity and confusion going forward just with less support and more outages, no wonder net churn is not really subsiding, Sad!

Thanks TT, but the question didn’t really require an answer. It was speculative. You should know how that works.
